Oh wow this is good. From prize fighter to Pulitzer prize. This would have been a full on SA slugger when young but now it’s mellowed beautifully, hung up the gloves and is still full bodied but also nuanced and articulate.
Cork disintegrated so popped and poured. Wine in great shape and good from the get go.
Lovely nose of mint chocolate, cherry, Parma violet, cinnamon, meat juices and a touch of leather.
Gossamer entry. The wine just glides in and coats the mouth. Mint chocolate, black cherries, allspice and then tobacco leaf and a touch of chilli heat. The fruit is still there and holds its own agaisnt the still present tannins and not inconsiderable acidity.
Just lovely and still in great nick. The fruit can go on for a few years but I think would start to play second fiddle to the acidity. So i would recommend getting stuck in now.

After a virtual wine tasting of 6 wines by Langtons for the Humpty Dumpty charity, I decided it was time to open this. Under crumbling cork which had done its job. Sumptuous, luscious, plush. I do hope the 2016 we tasted will be as good. And like all good reds, drunk with pizza. Details. Cloudy dark plumb red, little brown tinges showing its age. Little given by the bouquet. Soft fruit giving way to dry pepper tannins. In the zone now.

Mature but not over the hill. Soft but yet still full and fruity as you would expect from a younger Aussie Shiraz but it still has it at 17 years old. Quite a clear taste of wood toward the finish which hasn't integrated into the wine but it isn't overpowering, in fact it adds an interesting complexity. A tasty interesting enjoyable wine

Soft and friendly luxurious bouquet with also some chocolate. Soft spiciness and eucalyptus. Complex and elegant. Quite much resemblance with my note of 2007. The wine is fully mature now, but no real hurry.

What a great Aussie..... Very bright in color, a little eggplant tone, full of coconuts, chocolate aroma, very sweet but not too oaky, maybe I have store for more than 10years, the Aussie oak is resolve. Very full in mouth, tannin still young but I can accept it, sweet plum & berry favour, a little touch of wood, very very little in finish even I enjoy this wine with spice Chinese food. How can I found another good bottle of vintage AUSSIE wine...... If you still have bottles, you can reserve more than 5-10 years. But now, you will greatful here.

Color is dark red but rim is fading, clearly a mature wine, the smell is lots of second level shiraz but the sweetness and all the fruit is still there. Eucalyptus, mint, liquourice, it's all there. Taste is long and sweet, like something you want more of. But don't save it for too long. To be enjoyed soon.

Much different than the last bottle. Color same, showing age, even more translucent. A sophisticated Aussie Shiraz. Prune and raisins all over the nose, with bramble. Sweet fruit on to the palate, drinking great, full light mouth feel, yummy fruits. Good solid finish. OK Value.

Crumbled cork, funk in the decanter, but bottle eludes the elixir. Color is showing brick, but could be related to my bad cork. Lighter color than previous notes, cork or age? Nose is a burnt caramel porty prune, rich fruit. Attack on the front to mid palate. Sharp fruit, structure, ... big second wave lingering sour cherry/strawberry finish. Early in the night, or fades fast?
Hours later . . . Complexity, now the richness and depth cutting through a red sauce past and meat dinner, spicy like hell, swimming in red fruit flavors, strong cleansing structure. Powerfull Wow, Finish just goes, really opening up. Makes you swallow again to chock down all the last bits...
My first Armagh

A wine of great class. Nose is somewhat subdued, but nevertheless elegant -- notes of tobacco, graphite, very Left Bank. The tannins are supple, and the palate is loaded with chocolate, long finish. I popped and poured, and saw quite an evolution in the glass - surely would have benefited from hours of exposure to air, but it was too tasty not to drink. Highly recommended: A

Impenatrateably black this wine is just south of porto. Rich cassis, cadbury chocolate and Chistmas spice on the nose. The copious oak is but a minor player in the shear wall of ripe fruit. A huge attack on the mouth. The amazingly concentrated dark fruit is like crushed velvet on the palate. The real joy of this wine is in the finish.

Another excellent showing. Definitely give this wine some time in glass, it's got so much more class after 90 minutes of air.

Occasional tasting group: A mixed set of great Italian, French and some other wines. (@ PVa): WOW! A beauty! Eucalyptus, mint, menthol, thyme and a little chocolate in the bouquet. Berry power and sweet licorice. Beautiful new world wine with complexity, finesse and elegance.
