The Verticals Tasting at 2023 La Paulée (Eventi Hotel, New York): Magnum. Yellow. Low pitched, dull fruit nose. Diffuse ripe fruit, lower acidity, some obvious oak, plenty of soil. A very different animal than the 2012 Clos and I clearly prefer the younger wine.

Drinking beautifully now and in my view at its peak. Focussed pear/apple with vanilla nuances wrapped up in a wonderful mineral frame and drops of lemon oil. Fully integrated, racy and highly moreish. There are better Clos out there but excellent for the vintage. Drink up by the end of next year for maximum pleasure.

From Magnum. Nice color. The nose is clean and expressive; showing aromas of citrus, pear, minerals and a hint of honey. This is medium bodied on the palate with decent concentration but good class. The medium plus length finish features just enough acidity. Lacks excitement...

La Paulée de New York: Vertical Tasting (Rainbow Room - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Magnum. Rich and nicely concentrated. Riper fruit than typical, but easily with enough acidity to retain balance and classic styling, particularly near finish. In its peak drinking window.

The Verticals at La Paulée 2017 (The Rainbow Room, New York): Magnum. Medium color. Pear and citrus mix. Round entry, medium weight, some dilution. Adequare acidity, slightly sweet mid-palate, astringent, woody finish. Middling quality for Les Clos.

Second Burgundy Al's notes. Swore this was the '09 Moreau Les Clos which I called though not hospices. More mineral with air. Not the longest finish but delicious.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting from magnums. 14/13/11 vertical. Nicely bright, fruit is softer vs when younger, so still very classic but less perfectly balanced.

La Paulee de NY - Verticals Tasting (Rainbow Room - NYC): Tasted at large walkaround tasting from magnum. Ripe green apple. nice cut and minerality. doesn't show the depth and complexity I expect from Clos.

Musique & Vin Wine Tasting (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Tasting, brief note. Big, fat and fun aromas and flavors. Dense and opulent for Chablis, probably best in the next 5 years.

Sydney Burgundy Celebration (Sydney, Australia): Smoky oak, lemon and orange. Forceful palate, intense and driven with a lovely line of acid and a sense of depth to the fruit. Very good!
