Alentejo Trip; 6/3/2018-6/8/2018: Deep gold color. Aromas of orange peel, apricot, deep honey and nougat. Creamy and plump on the palate with orange marmalade, rich honey, graham crackers, almond. Notes of sea salt and buttered biscuits. Richer than the 2016 style but well done and balanced nicely. Delish. I’m impressed by how well this aged.

The full-bodied wine was intense yellow-gold in colour and offered ripe stone fruit, ripe tropical fruit, tangerine, lots of oak, crème brûlée, lots of vanilla, oak spice, macadamia nuts and herbal anise on the nose and palate, with a creamy mouthfeel and very good length. The alcohol (14.5% ABV) was well in check. I liked this 2011 better than the 2009; it was still dominated by ripeness and oak, but seemed less over the top. My parents in law loved it.

A medium bodied wine, with orchard fruits and floral notes. A bit of a herbal/grassy note is detected, with a crisp, clean finish. Not particularly long, but a good overall value.

Kind of hard to describe. A spicy, fragrant white sort of like Viognier but even spicier. Flavors of white peach with some winter spices and a touch of pepper. Nice minerality and acidity.

At Salt Creek Cellars dinner tasting: nose of melon and of tropical fruits. Taste of lemon and apple. With the Alaskan halibut the wine wasn't substantially improved. However, it was much better with a little time open, as more Chardonnay-like fruit flavors emerged. Can really pick up the barrel aging on this wine. 89 points on its own and 90+ after the food
Made from 4 grapes and barrel aged. 14.5% alcohol

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of lemongrass, yellow pears and wet stones. Flavors of lemon, soaked pears, crisp yellow apples and minerals. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink now.

Monthly Tasting Group EEE #019; Portugal (@ My place): White fruits, oak and some grasses in the bouquet. In the mouth almost aromatic with yellow tropical fruits like pineapple and some butter. Really nice wine.

- Light gold color with slow forming legs and aromas of banana, melon, yoghurt and vanilla. It's balanced and has flavours of melon, banana and vanilla with a full body. Smooth texture with a long finish - In de neus complexiteit. Tropisch wit fruit (banaan en rijpe meloen) en vanilletoon van het hout. Klein beetje zuivelgeur komt daar achteraan. Geur is uitbundig. In de smaak komen de geure mooi terug. Vol tropisch fruit, wel wat stevig hout naar mijn smaak (had wat subtieler gemogen). Verder mooi in balans en een lange afdronk.

Floral aromatics with quite pronounced notes of nuts and vanilla oak; ripe tropical fruits in the background. Dry, complex palate with deep flavors of new world tropical fruits, cream and woody oak. Initially quite heavy and dense overall appearance, but the wine takes a more fresher and lighter turn with its crisp acidity. Long and fresh yet somewhat warm finish with flavors of bitter oak, succulent yellow fruits and lemony acidity in the aftertaste.
A big, fruity and structured white with quite dominant oak; this wine needs food that can suppres the oak aromatics and bring the fruit forth. Probably the wine would benefit from aging it a couple of years? At least it has got the fruit and the structure from short-to-mid term cellaring. A good buy at 14€.

One of the best white wines I've ever had. The balance and complexity here was perfect.
