Burgundy Wimps (La Trompette, Chiswick): Medium gold. Mature nose, honey, over-ripe apple, touch of butterscotch. Similar on palate, a little flat with soft acidity and short finish. Past it’s best.

Last of three purchased at auction a few years back. Enjoyed with friends over dinner, so no notes at the time. Lovely gold colour showing its age. Good nose. Absolutely wonderful on the palate, great complexity but beautifully balanced with the oak completely integrated to give an almost creamy flavour spectrum. So silky in its mouthfeel and great length. It was continuing to evolve as we drank it and I'd love to try it again over a longer period to see how it would evolve. Not sure where else it can go but probably ok for a year or two for well stored bottles.

10th of 12, pnp, perfect level, though travel up 3/4 of cork, no significant change since last June's note, super stuff, green tinged, mineral and typical, though broader than Dauvissat and Michel, but more reliable than Fevre. F+ (18).

8th of 12,previous notes at least fine - pale yellow; classic gunflint, lemon, honeysuckle , chalk and wet stone; medium, long and persistent, very focussed and pure, in many ways tighter than 2 years ago, ready but a long life ahead. Fine (17.5/20).

Mid golden in colour. The nose is showing some evolution. It's still got some citrus acidity, and that just holds the palate together, it's definitely mature Chardonnay with a lovely depth of flavour and finish, I'm glad I took a chance on one of these bottles as this is delicious
Pale yellow colour. Notes of apples, lime, and wet stone emerging from the glass. In the mouth the wine is well structured with a delicious and concentrated core of fruit, beautifully integrated oak, and no sign of the over-manipulation that Droin has been accused of. Obviously not a wine for drinking now, but based on Steve Tanzer's recommendation of this wine I bought a case, so today was just a sneak preview for me. I can thoroughly concur with the recommendation. This is at least as good as a Côte de Beaune Premier Cru from a top producer - but at less than half the price. The aftertaste was smooth and balanced and revealed notes of minerals, citrus and lime with no astringency or sourness at all. An excellent wine.

Medicinal, flinty, slight oxidation, lots of minerality, very Chablis

Wine Education Service - Burgundy Course - Chablis and the Auxerrois. (LSE): Vegetal, demands patience, eventually some fruit.
Oaky mouth, reasonable balance but clearly in a dumb phase.
