  • Last bottle. If I still had ten more it would not be enough, as this is youthful, graceful, refreshing, and invigorating. It’s full of the classic Grüner watercress, aligned to white peach, and a splash from an icy cold alpine stream. Maybe it’s my “glacial cellar”, but if you said this was three years old, not seventeen, I would believe it. Wonderful swan song, and a strong reminder that I do not drink (or buy) enough Grüner Veltliner.

  • At Erbaluce. Not much different from 12/13.Fills the mouth like a fine white Burgundy but the ripe flavors are of cress and peas. Not much black pepper at this point. A very good match for a tomato/basil/turnip pizza, not so much for a crab and lobster soup. Drink or hold.

  • The nose is effusive with wet chalk, lemon zest, peach and some tropical fruits. As the wine opens up, there is also a saline/seaweed component to the nose. All of this is also found on the palate along with a savory, brothy component that especially kicks in at the back end. This has intensity, complexity and precision. Best white wine I've had this year and a wonderful pairing with buckwheat and smoked salmon crepes.

  • A bit cheeky lemon chewing-gum nose, very fine white pepper, overall very spicey bouquet, structure seems very fresh and slender for a Lamm; impressive

Taste ist far more beefy, showes plenty of masculin lemon (zest) flavours, great white pepper, some guava and white peach, hint of dextrose, slight nuttily alc flavour, nice petrol undercurrant,
very good length and extremely juvenile for a 10 year old GV. No need to rush ...

  • It has been a while since I looked in on one of these. Initially it was rather thin and wanting, but an hour of air filled things out into a rich melange of peach skin and cress. My favorite element of the wine was the texture, which was mouthcoating without any trace of heaviness. Great balance-everything in its place. Delicious now, but no reason to rush. None at all. This wine appears to be built to go the distance.

Who needs White Burgundy when you can have this.

  • The wait was worth it -while this still has plenty of drink-ability it is now entering a real nice point of secondary evolution. The color is still light but there is much more roundness in the overall mouth feel -more ripe tropical fruits and complexity and a smoother texture and than the mineral and acidity kick in for a beauty finish. This is going to be a fun wine to follow..

  • Gruner Veltliner Tasting (7 wines) (New Buffalo, Michigan): Schloss Gobelsburg was an underpreforming Kamptal estate for many years. It was originally planted by the monks of Zwettl. A little less than 10 years ago, Willi Brundelmayer encouraged a 30 year old wine enthusiast, Michael Moosbrugger, to buy this historic estate and with Brundelmayers help started turning this property around. Moosbrugger has now been on his own for the last 5+ years and the results are impressive. WS recently listed this estate as one of "The 50 Most Important Wineries" every wine lover should know. This is made in a baroque style. Thicker than the other GV's. It had a creamy texture with lemon lime notes and pepper on the finish. 2nd time I have had this and I liked the prior bottle slightly better. 89 points.

  • Very impressive. Dense fruit (ie vegetables) and excellent balance, but most notable for mouthfeel of a top Burgundy. Fine now but suspect better to come.

  • The GV from Gobelsburg is very much an infant- I finished the little remains 3 days later, and the transformation was dramatic -much rounder with sweeter note of peach and white melons -I would add another 2-3 points to Jeb's score based on how it developed and note to self: -don't touch another bottle for 3-4 years. • 0.375 L bottle at a restaurant: intense fruit aromas/flavors (lemon, apple, peach, pear and pineapple); apples and pebbles on the palate; well-balanced acidity; fresh texture.

Perfect for a combination with a fish dish.

  • Half of this estates production ios devoted to GruVe and their skill with this grape showed in this wine. A very pretty nose which always impresses me. Full bodied and a rather expressive style. Notes of apricot and white pepper. 91-92 points.
