Darker than the King Alexander, chocolate, quince, orange zest, cedar wood, nutmeg, fruit jam (tastes like it, too) on finish. Sharper (slightly higher alcohol) with superb balance and composure. Mouthwatering leaving one wanting for more. 95

A step up from the 12 & 15, but not head an shoulders above. Still delicious, figgy dark fruit, orange, brown sugar. Sherry cask finish central. Delicious.

43%. With Elmar and Darryl. Nice colour, a little lighter than the 15yo, but non-natural anyway. The whisky offered fresh lemon, a hint of orange, Earl Grey tea, pepper, sherry and malt as well as hints of leather and caramel on the nose. On the palate, the whisky was very peppery, with orange, chili and sherry flavours. It was creamy at the sides of the palate and left an oily impression after we swallowed it, with warming, well-integrated alcohol and very good length. We liked it. Body 4/10, Smoke 1/10, Sweetness 5/10.

[43%, matured 14yrs in American White Oak + 4yrs in Matusalem Oloroso Sherry Casks; L'1E2 11/06/13 23:49 13/01655 ] Rich bronze amber in glass, with a curious fishy funk, followed by soft apple wood, wet gravel, biscuit, almonds, cocoa dusting, soft blue smoke and orange oil. Suitably oily and viscous on the palate, with more orange peel, cinnamon and toasted almond. A good noticeable burn/edge, revealing toasted cereal, black pepper and oak on the finish, late stone-fruits, and some vanilla/coconut shavings. Watering reveals some orange blossoms, seaspray, green wood, and the obvious disappearance of said fishy funk (thankful!), while palate now noticeably lighter, gentler, even enjoyable, revealing a lacy texture, light tingling, soft christmas spices, red apple skin, dark cocoa, ground ginger, and even hints of a lingering sweetness. Suitably complex, best enoyed w a nibble of dark choc. Well made but the ostentatious bottling and price tag deserves deducting a point or two!

Skeels BBQ - value wine night: A wonderful digestive whiskey. Almond, orange and toffee cinnamon. So dark, rich and incredibly complex with multiple layers of flavour. Almost difficult to finish a drink. The 09 Cos Estournel of whiskey?

Mín leiğ í gegnum Haugen smakkiğ (Gamla Bíó): 18 ára Dalmore var svo bragðað næst. Virkilega gott viskí. Má líka vera það fyrir 20k.

Bouquet displaying prescient salinity and honey caramel with hints of vanilla and smoke. Palate has gentle malt with tinges of smoke.
