Was interesting to try this given that I'd had the 2005 DP Rose a few days before. At the very high level, I'm not sure that expensive rose champagne is worth it for me - I find myself enjoying the standard fare more and so it doesn't make sense to me the extra price requirement for the Rose (I think the opposite is true when champagne is a bit cheaper). This was less musty than the DP. Fruit was just slightly poking through (kindof an unripe plum maybe). I enjoyed the wine, but not as much as the Beaucastel Vielle Vignes we had right after or the Colgin after that and given the price differential not sure it's worth it.

65/35 Pinot/Chard. Nose is gorgeous, combo of bready fruit, strawberry, cranberry, clean nuts. Palate is a big wow, lots of flavors, delicate too with all that's going on, acidity is cleaning up, there's tannic structure also, maybe could even open up or age more. Round but not fat, impeccably made. Get some more.

Bubble Bash 2014 (Pier A Harbor House): Popped and poured a pinkish salmon color with very long legs and fine bubbles. Expansive nose of cherries, pineapple, peaches, brioche and strawberry jam. On the palate, the wine has a masculine structure, powerful but somewhat tight. Needs time. Flavors of mint, toasted nuts, macerated berries and lemon. Incredible concentration. Every drop of this just oozes class and finesse. Some acidity in the end to keep things fresh. Finish is very long. Sniffed the empty glass and the bouquet is still singing from the rim. My second WOTN after the Salon 1999.

Veuve Clicquot Dinner (Boss Shepherd's - Washington DC): Vibrant copper-salmon-orange color, a bit deeper in color than the 2004 Brut Rosé. Such aromatic complexity, it really takes time to open up and show its true stuffing: strawberries, apricot, red apple peel, limestone, oyster shell, sea breeze, biscuits and a hint of smoke. Tart acid on the palate, this is an intense wine but it maintains an elegant posture despite itself. Red cherries, currants and wild strawberries play off of minerals, chalk, oyster shell. Lovely toast and brioche, I get some really interesting notes that I can’t quite place, something like barley and sweet onions, but whatever it is I love it. Time coaxes out all sorts of complexity. A beautiful wine, but decades away from maturity. The Pinot in here comes from the Clos Colin plot of Bouzy, so it was fascinating to taste this wine alongside the still 2013 Clos Colin Pinot Noir.

Taste: M+ body, with a glossy, silken texture. The M/M+ acidity is seamless and integrated, with an elegant but sprightly bead. Finish is delicate and long, with notes of toast, grilled meat, raspberry and angel food cake.
Wish I had more bottles to see if it picks up more depth on the midpalate with time...which I am sure it will.

2004 champagne horizontal (110 Taillevent London): Dare I say that here blind actually one of my preferred roses. Bit of reduction, engaging, with some blood orange. Very good.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Apple and red berries with toasted pine nuts. Nicely floral and spicy aromas. Moderate length, good minerality and finesse. Driking very well now.

See: Medium watermelon, with tinges of light orange.
Smell: Candied cherry, fennel fronds, brioche, dried strawberry, button mushroom, white pepper. Subtle, layered, balanced.
