Vivier Tasting (North Beach Conference Room): Significant Pinot fruit ricochets well with the big Pinot and white-pepper nose. Bolder than the 2012. Fun with its tad of menthol but a sense of rubbing alcohol slips through on the finish.

This is a riper, deeper fruit Pinot than I normally drink. It starts out a bit sweet in the nose showing too much oak for my taste, but it settles down and drinks nicely over two nights, showing plenty of fruit on the nose and palate and good balance. For folks who like a more fruit-dominated Pinot with round edges this is a good buy.

Drinking young now. Less full bodied than the '10.
Fruit forward - good mouth fell and after taste.
