Mini Vertical of ‘12, ‘15, and ‘17 Rousseau LSJ @ Casa Dani NYC. To me ‘12 was WOTN: the most classically Burgundian/Gevrey filled with earthy notes, fine and faintly gritty, most harmonious and ready to go. Not profound like higher end bottlings but plenty to philosophize over.

Perhaps guilty of infanticide here - decanted for two hours - deep colour, violet and damson nose, rich and long palate, tannins soft but still structured suggesting more time in bottle might be needed. A lovely mouthful.

When Pnp, the wine is pale purple in colour, which is a rather worrying appearance. The wine is not expressive on the nose and palate.
After having 1-4 hours of aeration (in a Zalto Burgundy glass), the wine starts to turn into deep garnet, and flavours of red fruit, minerality, mushroom, meat and rose petal jam starts to reveal themselves. It is a lot more intense and a tad too sweet for a Gevrey Chambertin, but all balanced by fruit-wrapped acid and very find tannins.
The wine only starts to harmonise in the 5th hour, and it keeps on getting better.
This is definitely too young to be enjoyed now. Will revisit after a few years of cellaring.

2017 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/9/2017-11/14/2017 (Villa D’este, Lake Como and Milan): Medium expressive nose displaying ripe red and black fruit, strawberry, black cherry, strawberry jam, very floral, sap and strong earthy mineral. Good concentration, silky and polished, generous sweet red fruit, medium acidity, strong mineral presence and a medium to long sweet red fruit and mineral driven finish. Initially very polished impression but after the others, seems a bit straightforward. Nevertheless, it is a very good wine that is still open for business.

Musique & Vin Wine Tasting (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Tasting, brief note. Red and black cherry with meaty spice and elegant textures and good balance, just medium weight. Probably best medium term, I like this a lot but not quite as much vs when tasted in 2014.

Wildman New Release Burgundy Tasting (Peninsula Hotel - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Starts with some subtle red cherry along with lots of black fruit, but transitions quickly to ripe black fruit, lots of spice. An expanding, mouth coating finish with great concentration. An excellent Lavaux, with 91-93 point potential.

Day Three in Burgundy: Rousseau, Marchand, Dugat, Jadot (Cote d'Or): Barrel tasting at domaine. All black cherry with subtle spice hints, all very fresh. some sauvage hints, all very nicely textured and good density. This cuvee includes the LSJ from Chateau de Gevrey-Chambertin so doesn't represent the exact same plot as from prior vintages. Also this note might not represent the final assemblage because of the varied new oak use across barrels.

Wildman 2012 Burgundy Preview and Barrel Tastings (New York, NY): Tasting pour. Tiny bit of reductive vinyl, otherwise open for business! Darker, leaner than GC. Prefer the GC at this early point, however this will of course surpass.

Palais de Congres: Des Grands Vins de Bourgogne (Beaune): Difficult to assess as was the Clos St. Jacques which is a shame. Beyond that I got good fruit concentration, lots of freshness. 90-92?
