Double decanted ~ 2 hours. Mellow older sweet dark cherry fruit, some gunflint/reduction and nice Pinot funk. Others at the table said "oak, spice, cloves". Med tannins and low-med acid. 13.5% Alc.
I loved this, initially calling it an 02' Jadot Amoureuses in a flight of 10 red Burgs, that we single-blinded (ie: we knew what the 10 were, but not what was in the glass.) My WOTN in a group that included Corton, Mazis, a Dujac Morey, several serious Vougeots and the 02' Amoureuses which unfortunately, was flawed.

Wow bottle from a vintage that is uneven. Great fruit, great balance, really lovely. Does not have secondary characteristics to elevate it, but it it is young. Wish I had more.

Explosive blue fruit and spicy core with just a hint of orange spice that lingers around the powerful and driven palate. Ever so light shade of greeness reminds you that the vintage keeps its youth. Stunning, as expected. 94

Drank this at the end of the night following an incredible lineup of whites and then 96' Rayas and 00' Giacosa red label and this held up very nicely. I can't remember much else other than it was very tasty!

Open, expressive and candied with no sign of the vintage greenness. Ethereal palate with charming sweetness. Fourrier did very well in this challenging vintage.

Still primary but lots of stuffing. Opened an hour prior and started to flaunt its potential towards the end of the bottle (as always!). Less candied fruit nose than I was expecting from a Fourrier but still a great bottle nonetheless.

11 vs 99, 2011 - opened for a few hours before drinking, much more expressive nose and had clearer expression of fruit. Just a little shorter on the palate. Starting to drink. 1999 - much more muted nose tannins almost resolved but still had great structure. I preferred this to the 2011 but overall I didn’t like the style and preferred the Rousseau CSJ.

Friday gathering prior lockdown again: Opened and bottle chilled 2:30h before serving. Similar note. Expressive nose with fruit (cherry, raspberry). The palate is full body with fruit, spice and flower. Medium to long finishing. WOTN.

Fourrier Clos Saint Jacques is extremely charming with a great intensity, in blind it often comes very close to Rousseau Clos Saint Jacques. Tasted blind after midnight, so excuse my scruffy notes – Sweet dark berries, lots of aromatic green stemmy notes, perfumed and playful. Feminine style of wine, reminds me of Georges Noellat 2011. Delicious. Georges Noellat Grands Echezeaux? (91/100)

Perfumed, a bit of intercellular fermentation influence, but none of the greenness of some 2011s. Pretty red currant, smoke, and crushed stone aromas prelude a dense minerality, fine tannins, and a harmonious sense of balance. Very good today; drink through 2030. (From 0.89ha planted in 1910)

Tasted blind – Sweet new oak spices and earthy Gevrey nuanced mineral. Fresh array of bright berries and deeply laced spices. Modern style, very charming. Medium bodied with really lovely depth and lift. Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru? 2011? (90/100)

Lovely bottle that surpasses the issues of the vintage. Nice nose, palate is spectacular. Balanced, great fruit, lovely depth. Fruit notes at the front, some herbal notes that add to complexity. A great finish that is savory, long and clean. Double decanted, not sure that helped but it was fine.

Side-by-side-comparison between 2011 Rousseau Lavaux St Jacques and 2011 Fourrier Clos St Jacques. The 2011 Fourrier Clos Saint Jacques offers a brilliant nose of playful green stems, delicate red berries intertwined with rose petals and fresh herbs. High toast sexy new oak spices giving it that extra energy. A Premier Cru that flirts like a Grand Cru. Gorgeous even in a weak vintage. (92/100)
Dark deep (almost opaque) red colored, unlike much younger Fourriers which are a lot brighter-red colored. Decanted into a Voss bottle for ~an hour+ or so before serving. No apparent "greeness" which many characterized of the '11 vintage. Some spices on the nose, along with earthly notes. Silky, with very good ripeness, and less cherried than, again, more recent (vintages) Fourriers. Nicely balanced, and quite exquisite for a 2011!

High key floral, stem, fresh bright red fruits, so perfume. On palate it is seamless, uplifting with spices, wild flowers and red berries notes. Velvety tannins. So aromatic and delicious now, unlike other vintages.

Burghound Symposium Asia - Gevrey Chambertin Clos St.Jacques 1er Cru Masterclass (Hong Kong): Nose of red fruit, bread, spices. Complex. Soft, ripe palate, polished tannins, cherry. raspberry candy. This is very good but the much cheaper Combe aux Moines is just as nice. For Fourrier fans I recommend to try the later as it is always sublime. Second best wine of this tasting with many mediocre wines. 94-95

Massive spice attack on the nose. Big, Sweet and succulent attack with ripe fruit, Asian spices, black fruit but not terribly civilized or elegant right now. Intense and one to watch with time, as there is a lot going on here.

VERTICALE CSJ FOURRIER VS. Lungo e longevo.

Awesome, as always, when tasted at this stage. Tannins prominent, but already an integral component. Grapey on the palate first; blows off quickly. Sweet-fruited throughout, with earthiness and complexity growing over time. Hold for 7-10 years at a minimum.

Day One in Burgundy: Fourrier, Mugnier, d'Angerville, Roulot (Cote d'Or): Tasting at Domaine. Black cherry and blackberry aromas with a bit of blue fruit thrown into the mix. Good black pepper, allspice and fresh herbs, along with great fruit flavors. Everything in balance with great textures all the way through its long, energetic, racy finish. 94-95 point potential.
