Some menthol and tar, bit of vanilla on finish. Some nice dark black fruit sits in the middle and gives good flavors and mouthfeel. Decanted 2 hours and it needed it to fully open.

The wine looks violet colored. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis), cranberry, prune, fig, forest floor, mushroom, medium toast, cedar, cinnamon and clove. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, black currant (cassis), raisin, smokey bacon, toast, clove and stoniness. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. May be a bit past the peak but only recently decanted. So much going on in the glass.

An outstanding, well aged, mature, soft and complex Rutherford cab that shows how good these wines can be and how well they can age and from a historic vineyard to boot. A very good QPR wine at our price point. Decanted for an hour and that is probably about the right amount of air. Soft, complex, still present but very well balanced / well integrated tannins, medium - full bodied, some bricking present and a reasonable aftertaste present. Beautiful soft complex almost floral nose of oak, dark fruit, cola and cassis with an initially very typical and expected flavor profile of well balanced & well integrated oak, dark fruit, cassis and earth with a smokier and dustier mid - late palate of grilled meat & tobacco. Highly recommend this wine for lovers of high end mature Napa cabs.

Very dark red color, no bricking. Decanted for 90 minutes; then drank 2 glasses over 90 minutes more. This was pleasant enough out of the gate, but after the decant this was showing better, but really shined after another 30-45 minutes. The evolution was impressive. On the nose there's bright fruit of cassis, mulberry, raspberries, and boysenberry; initially a little dill that fades quite quickly, nice purity in the red and blue fruits, floral, exotic spice. The palate is medium plus bodied, elegant, great fine and silky tannins, cassis, raspberry and boysenberry fruit, a little graphite, briar, spice and a little dust on a long finish. Very, very good and was still improving at the last drops. A great way to toast mom and dad on their milestone bdays.

Bold fresh nose, fresh entry, plenty of weight mid-palate, sour cherries, violets, dark currants, long lingering finish is both herbal and spicy. Freshness of cedar and nose of herbs and pencil shavings. Rutherford dust is so fresh. Popped and poured with eye roast, sautéed baby bella's/shallots/parsley/EVOO and end of summer bucks county silver queen corn on the cobb. Easy transition to dark chocolate bark with blueberry and walnut after dinner. This is in a great place now but I think it will gain weight and complexity. Will wait for 3years for next bottle. Did I mention fresh.... Refer to label number 2.

Decanted for 40 minutes paired with a steak. Nice dark purple color. Raspberry, vanilla, hints of leather and black currant on the nose. Had a little bit of heat on the nose after about an hour and a half. Well rounded taste very good velvety mouth feel, long finish. Tastes of raspberry, black currant and blackberry jam. Good bottle of wine so-so price.

Shocking amount of sediment. Color was excellent with no sign of age. Initially the wine was loaded wonderful blackberries and black cherries, sweet Oak, some dry green elements and a 30 second finish, but within a couple hours the wine started to fall apart. The fruit was falling off and menthol and Oak started to dominate. Started at an 90 and fell down to 87. Drink up.

Sampled 5/31/11. Plenty of green salad in this wine, but also some nice black currant and blackberries. The Oak is most noticed at the finish. An interesting wine that still has some dominant tannins but is not harsh and is reasonably smooth. Still some time on this one, perhaps another 5 years.

Dark red color. Nose is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful creme de cassis aromas just waft out of the glass, sweet fruit, plum, cassis, blackberry, blackcherry, soft damp earth, tobacco. The palate is stunning as well, layer upon layer of sumptumous fruit, dust, earth, and coffee with vibrant acidity, round tannins, subtle, subtle oak, velvety in the mouth. This is a wonderfully elegant and balanced wine right now. It really reminded me a of a beautiful Pauillac.

Cali Cabs with the young turks (05 Foley Claret, 03 Pride Reserve Claret, 03 Rubicon, 03 Silver Oak AV Cab) (Culiacán, Mexico): This was brought by one of the young turks. The nose is youthful and subtle, however the palate is alive and intense. Rich and creamy with red cherry jam, chocolate, spice, and coffee. Great acidity throughout the palate with a nice little caramel finish. Eventually the nose opens up with some smoke, coffee, and black fruits. The tannins are in check and not overwhelming. Balanced now, might gain some complexity in a few years, but is by no means a blockbuster.

Oh, man, is this a good bottle of wine. Would have to be a candidate for my Cali wine of the vintage. While not huge right now, there's a phenomenal amount of aromas coming from the nose of this wine. On the palate, beautiful dark fruits intermix with chocolate and a myriad of other flavors. Sure it's a bit oaky, but it's not over the top like so many napa cabs. Or maybe it's just b/c the fruit can handle it. Everything is in balance, and the wine is layered like an onion, with new flavors coming unpeeled with each sip. A knockout bottle of wine.
