Moving the cellar and found this pleasant surprise. Been in a 56 degree cellar so in wonderful shape. We’ve been buying Peay for years and are fans of their light touch, age ability and true-to-terroir character. PNP, pale rose on the edge, lovely and immediately expressive nose. Lovely acidity, nice lighter, red-leaning fruit, a bit of rose and herb. But mostly just a nice, flavorful and lovely CA Pinot in a nice drinking window. If I had more I wouldn’t feel rushed. Just bought a bunch of their 2021s which are supposedly amazing. They may outlive me!

Friday night, 2011 Peay Savoy Vineyard (Anderson Valley) PN. Wow, what a wonderful bottle of wine from one of my very favorite vineyards. Relatively young, with an exploding bouquet of red fruit, rose-floral notes, leather, and baking spices. Juicy and sleek, with years to go, but definitely ready to be enjoyed. Just plain yummy.

Peay - to me - is quintessential california pinot. Juicy, complex, definitively American, but so well made. never cloying, but never weedy, pale or trying to not be something it is. Consistent!

An interesting color, almost like a dirty red that fades fast on the edges. Great floral/spicy nose. Red fruit, earth, forest floor, nice acid that isn't overpowering (though I love acid). This is in a perfect place for my tastes, and was a joy to drink.

Amazing color, almost like a dark rosé. Pine needle, pitch, black cherry, orange, plum jam, earth, and cedar on the nose. Sweet plums, spice, earth, black and red cherry, brown sugar, and a little vanilla on the palate. Good acidity, very good finish, great balance. Delicious. Overall, I really liked this wine. The profile seems a bit oak influenced for Peay, but somehow it works. It's been awhile since I've seen my wife enjoy a pinot this much.

Terrific wine, clearly in the Peay house style. A focused core of red fruit, surrounded by nice acidity and moderate tannins. Some earth complicates the palate; I look forward to seeing what happens to that element in a few years. Really nice bottle.

A very pleasant surprise. Light to medium body; lovely fruit, subtle textures, fruit, herbs . . . .

Ready now. Do not hold more than 1-2 more years.
Translucent and relatively light ruby in color.
Somewhat muted nose but rich fruit and a touch of brown sugar on the palate.

Loved it. Clean and pure with the Savoy distinctive herb and very slightly meaty over black cherry. No hurry but sure to love it now.

The real deal. Might seem a bit subdued at first, but has subtle layers that repay attention. An excellent, serious wine.

Brisk attack, dark and deep fruit with lots of energy. Classical, not really showing its cards.

Remarkably "ready-to-drink" despite its youth. Decanted, but needed no more than 30 minutes to be open.
Light to medium depth of color, as well as depth of palate. Ruby with a tinge of brown in the glass, while quite translucent.
Very well-balanced on the palate with a hint of brown sugar underlying the fruit. Not as complex as some, but highly enjoyable.
