Opened at dinner gorgeous nose, clearly stems were included. Cloudy, just a delight from start to finish. Perfectly balanced and still has a beautiful structure left. So much better than the 1990 gros frere. Just a gorgeous nose and a long beautiful structure and finish.

This bottle is ready now! Aroma is not as pronounced as 99 drc richebourg, but palate is so ready. Full, rich, creamy. Aroma of green pepper, blue fruits. But I feel it’s a little bit soft or it’s not that clear and clean. And not as powerful as 99 drc richebourg. But still a very good bottle.

Opened 4 hours before. Beautiful sois bois nose. Was perfection from the word go! Well integrated tannins with superb tension and length in the mouth. WOTN no doubts.

Medium depth red with a dark core and fading rim. Rich red and black berries. Has a pure clean fragrance, lovely perfectly ripe fruit and a delicately earthy, forest floor complexity. Velvety texture, perfect balance and finishing crisply but harmoniously. The flavours are of well fruited but mature burgundy, dark cherries, damsons, lightly earthy, but nothing that comes across as overly gamey, more a delicious sweet leathery character. The flavours are so long it is incredible, an absolute peacocks tail that actually seems to expand after swallowing. Delicacy, amazing length, dark and red fruits, a certain zestiness, this has it all. What remains will last for decades. Stunning.

Waves of dark red fruit just keep on coming. Intensely sweet, perfumed and simply gorgeous. Silky, spicy mouthfeel. Utterly, effortlessly perfect. I seriously thought about closing my eyes and paying up for a case of this then I remembered my wife has the keys to the shotgun safe.

Gorgeous. Vies for WOTN for me ( along with the 88 DRC Richy) . Dark color. Spice. Some funk. Sous bois, Sweet, ripe dark fruited on the palate with great balance and drinkability. Velvet texture. 97

Special Friend in Town (Sons and Daughters, San Francisco): Light ruby with mature edge. On an unusually warm evening, this was served on the cool side and allowed to warm and expand in the glass. On first pour, some transient meatiness, funk, and then tons of soil. With time, a beautiful melange of low pitched red fruit, cinnamon spices and some smokiness. Similarly, in the mouth, light at first and then stepped into its Grand Cru shoes. It finished poised, medium weight, complex and fresh with excellent acidity. Some cooler green elements snuck in at the very end. Definitely not a blockbuster and not even a particularly powerful or structured Richebourg. Not a jaw dropping example, but in great shape and another outstanding wine that confounded expectations of 1990 as too ripe, soupy, and/or stewed.

Impeccably well stored. Acquired on release, and hasn't seen a temperature above 53 since. Wonderfully perfumy nose, touch of meat on the palate with a rich core of elegant red fruit. Plenty of acid yet. If really well stored could turn out to be a thirty year burgundy and beyond.
