Medium red, not completely clear. Complex aromatics of muddled red fruit and incense. Medium weight, very supple. Ripe cherry, a hint of herbs, and earth. Tannins have faded at this point. Doesn't have the grip I'd expect of a 1993 Grand Cru wine, but still very tasty now.

Tan label (so probably not a Vieilles Vignes bottling, but who knows with Laurent). Slightly cloudy light red without much fading. Menthol and strawberry fruit. Medium weight. A soft, resolved feel is only disrupted by some ending acidity. Savory blend of soil and red fruit with the tannins largely resolved. An excellent, completely mature wine that falls well short of Grand Cru depth and distinction.

Initially I just thought this to be a dirty, rustic style with some flowers showing through, but as time went on you could tell it was very reduced and not showing well. It was not corked as others have said but either way it wasn't showing as it should.

Corked! At first the table was 50/50 on reductive or corked as the wine was incorrect but not definitively corked. However, as time went on it became clear...

Clos De La Roche Dinner (The Ledbury, London): Clos de la Roche Dinner - vibrant ruby color, flowery red fruit nose. bright red fruit taste, bigger style wine, seemed a bit out of balance though and didnt really improve in the glass. nice bottle but not as good as the Rousseau it was paired up with

Pinot and Chardonnay gathering at Harth Restaurant - 08 Rousseau CSJ & 06 Marcassins (Harth Restaurant at Hilton Tysons corner, Mclean, Va): Initially thought slightly corked but others said very reductive, tough call. With time, a bit more noticeable TCA for me. The overall expression seems rustic.
