Purple hue that opens with marjoram and tomato leaf aromas. Roasted tomato and black cherry flavors dominate the palate. Excellent acidity/fruit balance in this full-bodied wine with a lasting finish of espresso.

Drank with homemade meatballs and pasta and as expected they went very well together. The wine looks inky colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry, blackberry, prune, cherry, mineral and black pepper. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), cherry and mineral. The body is light/medium. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Earth, moist, mildew, tart cherry nose. Tart cherry, pomegranate, round acidity. Tobacco and nice astringent finish. Awesome at 9 year's old, probably at prime time

Deep ruby garnet hue. Potpourri and tomato leaf open up on the nose. The palate carries roasted tomato, black cherry and clay pot earthiness. Great acidity/fruit balance with a lingering note of balsamic cured meat on the finish. Perfect with turkey Italian sausage and truffle ravioli. Wow!

Nice smoky cherry and raspberry flavors when drinking alone. However, with sauce- based Italian food it seems to lack the acidity/ tannin necessary to complement sauce and cheese dishes. More than likely would go better with white meats and lean red meats. Rather unusual for a Chianti in that respect.

Dark red fruits to the nose, Cherry, raspberry, alsoma floral note and some leather. It is rather acidic and slightly unbalanced. Smooth. Has a tobacco and spice shirt to medium finish and an earthy taste that I don’t personally care for. Had it with My homemade sauce that is a bit spicy and didn’t really go well. My husband didn’t care for it either.

Really well refined and balanced Chianti. Nicely acidic (but with nice dark fruits underlying) with a medium tannic finish. Right up my alley and well priced.

A minerally raspberry nose. Dry raspberry, earthy notes but very good. Very smooth and on the round side for a Chianti. Could have benefited from a bit more tannin.

I have to agree with those reviewers who have called this wine both "smoky" and "over extracted". That combination makes this Chianti difficult to match with food, which usually brings out the best in the vast majority of Chiantis. This was actually better with chicken than with a tomato-based dish which is a rarity for a sangiovese.

A bit hot on the nose and mouth. Cherries, spicy cherries, and very spicy nutmeg oak. Too much oak. Overall not bad for the price, but a little over extracted, hot, and oaked over the top. The elegence of sangiovese is a little lost here.

First impression leads to thoughts of slight over-extraction and "new world" tendencies. However, it still has that Sangiovese tar and roses (through the sheen of roasted fruits) that keeps it honest. Judgement reserved, but enjoyable overall...

Good. Ok, so sometimes I have to admit that I am wrong. Here's the thing: do not pop-and-pour; you will be disappointed. Great nose when you pop the cork, but the wine feels and tastes watery and flat. I left half a bottle over night and it was a completely different wine; tasty, classic sangiovese flavors, though now the nose is much more muted than before. It's still not a great wine, but it's pretty good.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. Nice grape juice. Not what we expect in a Chianti. Now we have 3 gifts to give at party's.

Fair. Great nose when you pop the bottle, but it doesn't live up to it. Disappointing; thin and mostly flavorless. I can't tell if it's well past it's drink-by date or if it was never very good.

This wine is a wake up call for drinking Chianti, especially for Brunello drinkers. The wine has the usual firm acidity and tannins, but also weaves in delicious cherry fruit, delivered with a touch of silky texture. For sheer tastiness, this could go toe-to-toe with Super Tuscans that blend Merlot with their Sangiovese. Resonating fruit, acid, and tannins both fill the mouth and linger long after swallowing. Got better each day after being opened. Very fine value at $20 a bottle.
