Great kabinett, on the cusp of early maturity, still some youthfull crisp and zing but starting to show hints of heather honey. Also lots of smoky granite and ripe pears, lemon, apple and melon. Long, energetic. Great wine!

NOSE > Ripe but very firm. Huge, pungent, smoky lime-oil. Waxy, sappy, reductive fermentation aromas. Grape blossom, red-cherry, star-fruit, lavender, rose-petal, lanolin, & Ugli-fruit. PALATE > Big Kabi. Strong spine of sappy, pungent, smoky lime-flesh/lime-oil, tart-apricot, lavender & white-nectarine. Excellent acidity & very good intensity. Finish & aftertaste is persistent & pungent pink-grapefruit & lime-zest. Beautiful, tight, expressive, & all of a piece. Still very young, but oh so athletic, sexy & sensual now.

The nose showed gorgeous richness balanced by fresh floral tones with notes of baked apple, mulling spice and lemon curd, giving way to sweet floral tones and hints of savory herbs. It flooded the palate with juicy acidity, sweet lemon-tinged peach, green apple and hints of spice. The finish showed lemon pith with a balancing note of sweet peach and herbal tones, which lingered for over a minute. Very Nice!
After having a not so stellar performance last time, I’m now feeling much better about the 6-pack I put in the cellar.
A good step up from the QbA. Tropical fruit including something more pungent (guava perhaps? - in moderation though). Good minerality and acidity. Certainly good value. Took this to Bonnie Kramer's pool party. Very popular. I am still not sure about this. It has good fruit but is not really in balance. Also, doesn't seem to have the level of acidity I would like. We'll see how it develops. The 2011 really improved in bottle.

Very crisp and fresh on the nose with some green apple, brown spices - cumin/nutmeg, fresh sugar snap peas, some minerality, peach. The palate has similar flavors but trending sweeter with the green apple, peach and cumin dominating, and a little honey thrown in. It's fresh on the palate, even vibrant, but it's not as cut or burning as the 2010 and thus for me is just a good, as opposed to a superb bottling. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15/20.

NOSE > Big musky, pungent, stony/slatey/steely, tart-nectarine, quince, starfruit, tart-apricot, grape-blossom/honeysuckle, Granny-Smith, & a mountain-stream over rocks. Elegantly earthy. Some fresh Morello-cherry emerges with air. This young, tight puppy needs air time. PALATE > Very big Kabi. Piquant, musky/steely/slatey, tart-nectarine, lime-flesh, crushed-rock, pink-grapefruit, quinine, red-cherry/cherry-stone, lime-zest, liquid-limestone suspension. Sappy pink-lemonade. Med sweetness. High extract. Unobtrusive, but med+, ripe (tartaric) acidity. Med+ intensity. Finish & aftertaste of earthy/musky lime-flesh/zest, crushed-rock, & pink-grapefruit. This is a very big, powerful Kab, with oodles of depth, at the beginning of its life. Very impressive. Hope I haven't been a bit too stingy with points; time will tell.

On the nose this wine was coy and restrained, yet with coaxing showed hints of peach, mineral stone and weedy floral tones. On the palate it was ripe with vibrant acidity, while flavors of lemon, peach, and sour green apple stayed through the finish. It's fun to drink, but doesn't give much pleasure outside of being thirst quenching and juicy. I have to hope this is simply closed up due to its youth. For now, I can't bring myself to score it.

Pale greenish color with masses of tiny still bubbles. The nose is quite stony and leesy and possesses that certain something one usually finds on spontaneously fermented wines. The nose veers towards the more exotic end, but still manages to be quite restrained and thus I would not really call the nose fruit forward at all. Some floral and spicy hints are also there. On the palate good weight and texture, yet full of life and lifted due to high, lively acidity. Very positively nervous. A generous, vivid mix of fruits ranging from fresh apple to passion fruit. The clean, dryish finish displays some fine, racy minerality. Richer and more tropical than I would prefer, but nevertheless a fine Kabinett that showcases first class winemaking.

Slightly sulphury nose, covering the slight tropical aromas. Full of flavour and powerful yet with a lovely precision. Flavours of apple, lime and some tropical fruit linger long into the finish.

NOSE > Big, pungent, complex nose. Earthy, aromatic, stony & slaty. Gorgeous musky Sponti fermentation aromas. Lime-oil, Meyer-lemon, Ugli-fruit, Granny-smith apple, anise, bosc pear-skin, lavender, & carnation.
PALATE > Big, taut, creamy, steely. Pink-grapefruit, lime, Ugli-fruit, crushed-rock/slate, red-cherry,
tart-apricot/nectarine, nectarine-skin, lavender, & touch of anise. Excellent intensity, depth, & length.
Big, serious Kabi, not overly sweet. Substance + style.
A 1/2 case of this is simply evaporating - so young, so good.
