These were outstanding value upon release. Sadly, they have not held up well at all. Disjointed...off flavors...hardly recognizable as the wine it once was. I can't help but wonder if the DIAM cork had anything to do with it.
Rich purple color. Ripe dark fruit aromas. Plum. A tiny bit of alcohol. Medium body. Rich ripe flavors. Smooth tannins, a little too much fruit and alcohol takes the wine of out of balance. I can imagine some people would like the rich fruit.

Needs to be laid back a couple more years. Not exactly fruit forward although there are hints of blackberries & pears among other fruits. Finish is prolonged with unexpected hints of butterscotch.

strikes a good balance between big oaky fruit and refined structure.
full body, juicy but integrated acid and soft satiny tannins. drinking great now.
blue fruit and oak dominate with hints of incense, spice, and smoked meats. the french oak adds deeper coffee, chocolate, and plush texture while the sweetness of teh american oak shows itself on the round easy finish.
for fruit i get blueberry, black cherry, and even a little plum.
obviously new world but with some polish and balance not always found at this price point.

Shows an assertive, dark fruit character on the nose, with fresh currants and blackberries intermingling with brooding notes of tar, sandalwood, and smoke. As robust as it is on the nose, the palate is gentle and stylish yet long and roasted. Displays a velvety texture, generous fruit, and tasty, exotic spices that feel tingly on the long finish.

With hamburgers and roasted potatoes. Reasonably deep purple, color holds to the rim. Nice plum and grapiness on the nose. Acid, smoke, pepper, plum on the palate - pretty straightforward, good body, smooth and drinkable. Don't worry - be happy.

i agree with most of the reviews here. This malbec stands out, it's drinking really well right now, instead of just powerhouse fruit it shows finesse with some a nice floral notes on the nose, and has some really tasty fruit mixed with smokiness, coffee and licorice flavors. Complex wine for the price.

delicious full bodied with lots of character. Deep blackberry and cherry fruit. Not a tonne of complexity, but nice acidity and medium but ripe tannins.

Nothing much wrong with this for the price $12, a bit musty & tart initially, after 1/2 hr turning more sour notes with blackcherry, red plum, cloves, and hints of baking spices, which added much needed complexity. IMHO, better yesterday, than today and better today than tomorrow. Nothing personal!

Argentinian Malbec in and around this price range tends to be more or less the same, favouring power over finesse, as if producers are trying just a little too hard to impress, but this one distinguishes itself not just with astounding value but with impressive quality. With aromas of cinnamon and other baking spices, it feels like a fall/winter holiday wine, in a good way, and rich notes of blackcurrant, dark berry, dried fruit, leather, spice, smoke, and, yes, Christmas pudding complete the package. It appears to have the (dusty) tannins and acidity to warrant further aging, but while it can come across as a little rough now, it's a genuine standout already.

Jammy dark and red fruit like plums and cherries with hints of cocoa and cedar. Sweet nose. More sweetness in the palate with jammy plum, more cocoa, cola in a rich body with high acidity, medium tannic structure and medium finish. Very new world

Popped & poured, drank over 2 nights. A bit of barnyard funk on the nose. On the palate, I would have blind-guessed this to be a Cotes du Rhone. Except for the finish: very drying tannins appear there. Literally dries your mouth. Like it, but I'm still looking forward to a "love it" Malbec.

Wine Tasting Weekend; 6/7/2014-6/8/2014 (My Place - Washington, DC): Smoky on the nose, spice and chestnut on top of gushing plums. Fresh acid and firm tannic structure provides backbone, but the mouthfeel is pure velvet. Plummy, dark berry-driven with loads of smoke, earth, cola, cedar and spices. Aged 15 months in 100% new French and American oak. For $15, this is a reliably awesome wine. Popular with pretty much everyone in the tasting group.

Prima.

Really like this. Floral and jam to nose. Start of mixed berries and deep cherry gives way to a middle of anise and cocoa. Finish is medium with a mild acidity and heat. Light spice on finish. This is a sleeper at 14 bucks. Will keep couple bottles on hand. One of my top malbecs

Clean mid/deep ruby color. Clear in the nose, medium intensity, red and black cherries, violet, blue berries, hints of sweet spices. Youthful
Dry in the palate, medium+ body, medium intensity, medium+ alcohol (14.50%), medium acidity, medium tannins but round, flavors of red cherries, red berries, chocolate, nutmeg and sweet overall medium finish.
Very good wine that always deliver, high price (19.50 euros), drinking now but could age.
