Awkward at opening, this wine opened beautifully by minute 45. Honeydew melon, peach, starfruit, and flower petals. A bit of honey. Soft and pretty. In a nice drinking phase so long as you let it open and warm a bit.

2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape tasting: The note below of Francophile1 is spot on. Comes across as quite Burgundian. There's great tension and amazingly pure fruit. Mineral driven, but with a healthy dose of butter. My favorite white from the tasting.

Loved the nose on this wine. Mineral driven and almost smells like a Grand Cru White Burgundy. I might call it Burg. if it had been served blind. However, the finish is what screams I am not from Burgundy because of the low acidity and petrol finish. This is a beautiful expression of Marsanne. Drink up!

Wine Night at TCC (Timuquana Country Club): This was a bit muted on initial impression. Seemed to open up a bit with the food and liked the pairing with the scallop. I know the 100% Marsanne to compare with the 100% Roussanne. I am more a fan of the later but this was decent with the food.

Lafite Rothschild vertical (Taberna del Alabardero, Washington D.C.): Medium expressive nose displaying ripe slightly dry yellow fruit, perhaps peach and apricot but not quite clear, honey, cool mountain stream, sweet spices and steely mineral. Excellent concentration, packed yellow fruit, ripe and sweet but also cool and steely, medium acidity, strong steely mineral, and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with honey and steel at the end. The fruit is concentrated but not descriptive, expressing mostly as honey. IMO, these high end Chapoutier and Guigal whites should be drunk upon release. I am not sure how they will develop.

Oak here was a bit overpowering for me. It has lost a bit of the freshness of the young wine and the oak hasn't had time yet to integrate. Lower acid. Round and more full mouthful. And a bit of honey. Give it more time.

Matter of Taste (Zurich): Chapoutier Masterclass with Maxime Chapoutier Not as expressive and bold as the L'Ermite blanc drank alongside. Good, slightly reductive nose, mineral-driven with lots of yellow fruit and hints of white flowers. Oily texture but still not heavy and cloying thanks to an excellent freshness. Good but not great.

Chapoutier Ermitage Masterclass, Matter of Taste (Dolder Grand, Zurich): Located on the sedimentary South of Ermitage. Incredibly oily and viscous on the palate. Very low acidity hence would have loved a bit more freshness. Nice breadth of aromatics ranging from nutty (almonds) to a citrus type of fruit.

Q3 - 2018 Tasting - Whites - “ABC” Anything but Chardonnay (New York, NY): 12/18 white wines tasted double blind. This one tastes like a white Rhone to me The palate is stone fruit particularly white peach, there is still a touch of heat from the alcohol, and then some drying tannins which create a long finish. Still very primary without the complexities that should develop with another 10 years of age.

Opened by WineSparty. Clear straw color. A very creamy wine. Full bodied. Noticed some alcohol on the nose. Notes of paoched pears, chamomile and waxy white fruit. This had an oily texture. Others at the dinner loved this but it was not my preferred style of white wine. 88 points.

Opened by Sparty at Adelle's with some the CWM. Peaches, pears and honey, oh my. This is a gorgeous bottle of Marsanne with a lovely waxy and lemon oil quality. 94+

Rule the Rhone; 10/27/2016-11/3/2016 (Northern & Southern Rhone): Ok - so how this can be the same grape and the same general hill as the De L'Oree is beyond me (although we did do the vineyard tour and I saw with my own eyes). This one is in the sunnier area. Wine is golden in color and more honey toasted nuts. Lower fruit. A bit loomy. Soil is clay with river stone which seems to create a more intense flavor. Less (almost no) acidity. But still quite enjoyable and while for my tastes I liked the De L'Oree a bit better, I wouldn't kick this out of the glass.

Anything But (still) Chardonnay - ABC wines | Q3 Wine Club (The Apt): Wine #12: Touch of alcohol right at the beginning. I almost wonder if this needed a touch of a decant. Some honey and spice and black pepper and generally an interesting wine. (1 penny)

My WOTN at Lenior - with pear, pineapple, and honey notes. Dry but with a waxy mouthfeel that added weight

Lovely floral nose, layers of rich honeyed flavors, unctuous on the tongue. 14 percent alcohol but perfectly integrated.
