Looks young in the glass. Drinks young but doesn't have the intensity that is off-putting for me with most Chablis. The flavors had room to show and they were a good mix of citrus and honey. The length was amazing.
I guessed late 90s. No one guessed early 90s or 90. Impressive bottle

Drank alongside the '85 Blanchot. Drinking very well with a nose I could sniff all day. So rich on the palate but with so much honeyed minerals and acid that all was in harmony.

WOW Deep golden color. Nose of honey. Butterscotch, marzipan, citrus all layered wonderfully. Minerality and acidity in perfect harmony with the flavor profile resulting in an extraordinary wine. The finish kept going on and on. We were lucky she enough to have two bottles and they both were wonderful.

Once again, we were struck by the sulfur up front. Some marzipan and tropical fruit. Excellent vigor, texture, and length, even if it is not quite at the level of a bottle several months ago.

Ah, to have friends with older Raveneaus... Healthy yellow without any brown. After a brief whiff of sulfur, honey and beeswax poured out of the glass, and then it was an oscillating dance between these rich notes and typical Chablisien chalk and iodine. Captivating nose-I could not stop sniffing this. Glorious, layered texture with orange peel fruit and some underlying minerality that faded a bit over time. Unlike the '96 Valmur's incredible precision and driving acidity, this is a gentle wine that showcases harmony and extraordinary richness for Chablis. Marvelous wine, holding up exceptionally well without any oxidative tones, but probably not the Platonic ideal for someone who craves more structure in Chablis.

EL Birthday Dinner (The Garden Table at Le Pavillon): Served blind next to the 83 Leflaive BM and the 82 Coche Dury Meursault. Obviously Chablis. Obviously Raveneau. Many questions on age.

Smoke and lemon aromatics. Placid, bitter palate with medium length.

Quite nice -- acid still vibrant, touch of oak is present but not distracting. Wish we decanted it ahead of time. Lots of stuffing and life left here.
