Exquisite! Cork was good - vintage year on cork was a nice touch. Ruby red with a slight tan hue which made me concerned it was too late. But the nose immediately confirmed that all was good. We let it breath for an hour. Subtle plumb aroma with a touch of tobacco. Well balanced with chocolate flavors. Slight acidity at finish, but nothing big to be concerned about. Don’t leave it any longer.

Decanted for 2 hours prior to drinking. Licorice, fennel and bucket loads of heat. More heat on the palate which quickly drops off with little acid left and dissolving rough tannins. No fruit on the palate left. Past its peak, drink up. Didn’t particualrly enjoy this one.

Whilst age has smoothed this wine out, it is not outstanding. Given the price ($44) I would have expected something pretty spectacular after 6 years cellaring.

This was the Scarce Earth Mr. Riggs Shiraz (not listed in the choices). Whilst this was quite a nice shiraz, I was disappointed by the wine. It did not display any of the promise of becoming fantastic once aged, but I shall keep the remaining two bottles to give it a chance.

Well made given the most difficult vintage for the decade. Good colour, structure, tannins but a tat too savoury for me.

Took a long time to reach its peak, but finally after 6 years it has matured into a smooth McLaren Vale shiraz.

Excellent McLaren Vale Shiraz. Not bursting with fruit, but rather very subtle and smooth. A really lovely shiraz
