Ver integrated with time, no tannin, the mouvedre and the carignane came thorugh after the decant and made softness that really paired well witht he creaminess of the mashed potatoes

This matured beautifully and may be at its peak. Nicely perfumed, highly floral nose, the palate is all red berries and cherry and turns a bit more complex with cedar and spice towards the end. Medium bodied drinking really nicely now. A hodgepodge of mixed black grapes... nice !

A field blend of a whole buncha stuff. This wine is black cherry tart and cola. Gets darker to the finish where a lot of black pie spice and pepper comes out. I thought this was going to lighter red fruit dominated. Blend of Mouvedre, PS, syrah, carignane, Alicante bouschet, and peloursin.

Nice concentration of red fruit and an earthy, slightly gamy character. Reasonable acidity, with a little tangly tannin remaining. Berries and a bit of herbs; medium finish of tart fruit and acidity. Somewhat sharp tasting and seemingly out of balance on the palate. Okay.

Best wine of the 6pk we packed on our FL trip. Full flavored, structure there but the fruit leads. Enjoyed with meatballs sliders, etc. and it did well with the red sauce. Nicely balance, darker red fruits, some loam, nice acidity still present. In a good spot.

I think I enjoyed this more than others. Wine was concentrated, gamy and correct. No mistaking the southern Rhône blend. No heat with a puny 12.8% etoh. But still mouthfillling enough and lingering and pretty clean. Glad to have opened and enjoyed.

Nose of garrigue, smoked meat, dark fruit. Body shows round dark fruit with a good acid balance to medium tannins. Good finish. Drinking at sunset at Mesa Verde so the setting may boost my score. But I think it just is drinking better now. I will give my last bottle a few more years.

Lighter and less powerful, but with zesty red apple and wild red berry flavor, a dusty meaty hint, a bit of bitterness on the savory finish. Interesting and different.

Disappointing for a Carlisle who turn in great quality year in and year out. Maybe I'm getting to this a bit late, but toast and cedar flavors dominated the nose. Palate is light, red fruited with nice freshness, but a surprising green character mixed in. Oak and dilute fruit on the finish, rather short.

Tobacco, pepper and bark, and a little blueberry were the flavors that I discerned from this wine. Quite a bit more bitter than other Carlisle Zin's that I have had in the past.

I really loved this wine, seemingly more than most other reviewers. This is probably because we paired it with a pork and apricot stew like dish and consumed it on a cool fall evening. I loved the more rustic feel of this, almost pure, Mourvèdre offering. I wish I had more bottles as I have several additional recipes that would work quite well with this outstanding, restrained, Cali red. Kudos Mike and the Carlisle crew!

For me, this wine remains unchanged since the last time I had it just over a year ago. Zesty, red fruited, plump edges and spice. As I sit here enjoying this wine, I really dig it. It works for me because of the vintage, the red fruits and zesty acidity. If you drink it cooler in temp, it shows raspberry, spicy plum and a loamy, earthy note. I know with the way I described the earthy notes that sometimes I hear the word tree bark used for Mourvedre (this wine is nearly 100% Mourvedre), but since I can never recall eating tree bark (?), I'll stand with the loamy, earthy note. Warmer, it fleshes out a bit more, the spice and plusher texture is more prominent. I continue to be impressed and enjoy the 2011 vintage and how terrific winemakers like Mike made it work for them.

A nose of some fruit and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied kitchen sink red blend, with cherry, plum, some licorice on spice on finish. Carlisle makes great wines, this missed the mark some, a bit disjointed. www.winelx.com

Grilled some filets tonight and decided at the last minute to open a red. I was in the mood for a Carlisle but Ann said she wanted something lower in alcohol. I went down to the cellar and was shocked to see this one at 12.8%. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the wine tonight but we enjoyed it. Loaded with flavor but offset with nice acid. Didn't notice much tannin. Saved about a third of the bottle so I'll try to add some substance to this note tomorrow. Day 2: last night I re-corked the bottle and stuck it in the refrigerator over night. Tonight there is some spice on the nose, as well as a light coffee, mocha note. The light coffee, milk chocolate note carries through on the palate too but it is in the background. The fruit is mixed in color, and the wine is soft and silky with very light tannin. Light to medium bodied with pretty good acidity. This wine is easy to drink and tasty. I am a fan of the cool 2011 vintage in CA. It's hard for me to say how this wine will age, but it is drinking well right now.

worked well with roasted pork shoulder--porchetta roasted .. Lighter than one would expect for a mourvedre based wine, the dark fruit and medium body with red fruit was lightened by the acid; it had a long finish. about right for vintage.

Popped and poured. Still stiff tannic and a tad peppery day one, but bold black berry fruit came thru in compote or pie fashion. Some herbal notes, that disappeared by day two, with the fruit opening up to some vanilla oak. This bottling is always a great value.

From vines planted in 1910. A blend of Mourved, Petite, Syrah, Carignane, Alicante and Peloursin. Dark ruby red. Expressive, mostly red and blue aromas. On the palate, complex flavors of raspberry, blueberry, with a touch of coffee and soy. Good depth and a touch of a tannic edge.

Ruby in color. The nose has some nice raspberries, a bit of strawberries, black pepper spice. On the palate, this is nice. Medium bodied. Drinking well now. The fruit is not as ripe as other years of the 2011 Zins. It did open up more with air and put on some weight. Perhaps it just needs a bit more time to really develop. More what I expect from this vintage though as opposed to the Zins that seemed, to me, to over achieve.

My first of the two bottles I purchased. This aerated for about an hour resting in the bottle, no decant. Listed alc is 12.8%, a nice surprise. I really enjoy this wine, as it's got the Carlisle texture--plush and round, yet it's got the vintage's signtaure of juicy, red fruit. The palate has a cool strawberry and cherry feel, with solid acidity. Hint of sweet leather, orange rind and a sour cherry in the finish. Dig this vintage of 2A. Drink window? Who knows, as I enjoy it now and there is enough fruit and acidity to fuel it but it drinks great right now for me.

Decanted through an aerator, allowed to rest for 3 hours, then consumed over two days. Simple flavor profile of cherry and leather. A light wine, kind of picnicky, but its biggest problem is that it fades away at mid-palate leaving the entire tasting experience up front where it began. On day two, there is still nobody dancing.

Deep ruby color. Opens with floral-mineral scents and dark fruit notes (not typical mourvedre). Pleasant acidity with just a hint of tartness. A fair amount of substance considering the listed 12.8% abv. No two vintages of the Two Acres seem to be a like. Might be one to follow for a few years but quite tasty and food friendly at this point.

My first Carlisle experience and I'm VERY impressed. Drank over four nights and it was best the fourth evening. There's significant vanillin oak present right now that will need to integrate or calm down before fully enjoying the other elements. This oak blew off for the most part by night 3, which really allowed the fruit to shine. This must be held at this point and I don't recommend trying until 2016 at the very earliest - others with more Carlisle experience can chime in on their recommended drinking window.
