Tasted blind, this wine was rather tight and funky at first. However, it came on strong with air to show excellent richness and acidity. It's precision seemed to eb and flow. However, my impression is that this wine is still not quite in the zone yet (if certainly still imbibable).
I would opt to let this sit in the cellar for a few more years at which point it may improve by a point or so.

Admittedly, I am not a big Raveneau fan and the 95 didn’t do a lot to win me favor. The citrusness of Raveneau is more off putting to me than delicious. Usually it is contrasted with texture and delicate sweetness to soften the sharpness. That wasn’t in balance for this wine. It was kind of flat for Clos and didn’t bring the texture or flavor dynamism to make me stand up.

ChrIstmas WIMPS, Pandemonium table (La Trompette, London): Label decayed, and cork not marked with vineyard, so beyond vintage and producer this is a guess. GC weight. Nicely mineral without a full blown assault of salinity. Rounded with a touch of honey, transitioning to white mushroom. Mid length, no more. Decent. A slight sense of fading grandeur. ****

From magnum. Delicious. Quite linear but classic in expression. A more reserved wine for Raveneau than in other vintages. Lots of class and style here, though of the subtle kind. Drink now.

Tasted blind, this wine had a yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose offered up lemons, white stone, and green apples.
In the mouth, this wine was medium bodied with great ripeness and very good acidity.
While this wine was very good, one might expect even more. It just didn't seem to have the excitement of a big-time vintage. It is good now and it will get better in 5 years, but will it be really great?

What an amazingly complex and deep wine. Smells of moss, sea air and lemon custard. Some oak at first, but this quickly dissipated. Palate had candied citrus and the finish went on and on. After about 1.5 hours this wine was showing amazing balance and drinking beautifully. Still showed some youthfulness; built for the long haul.

From Magnum; the nose has a marvelous gravely quality to it, nicely elegant but the palate, while fine, does not provide the power one might expect. But overall a good wine.

This wine had a light yellow center and light rims. The nose was very tight a first and grew in intensity over the 2 hours we had it open. It displayed green apple, citrus, and white stone.
In the mouth the wine went from being quite closed to attractive with great length and acidity. This bottle suggested that 1995 was not one of the "fat" Raveneau vintages.
It will take quite a while for this bottle to come around. I see no reason to try it again for at least 5 years. At that time my score could move up several points.

(Tasting battle between 95 Raveneau Clos and 95 Coche Dury Rougeots) Yellow color, turning more golden through the evening. Powerful nose of sea shell, quince, pineapple, wet stone and a hint of oak spice. Lemon curd, pinapple and quince on the palate with a long, bracing finish of minerals. Developed well through the night, showing only a little hint oxidation after 4 hours.

Phenomenal nose of menthol, spearmint, pineapple, limestone and God knows what else. Grand Cru-like breadth and glycerin with fabulously ripe and tasty citrus and lime fruit along with vibrant, chalky minerals and a zingy acid kick on the finish. Beautifully balanced and voluminous with great freshness combined with mind-boggling complexity and intensity. Seems to be in middle-age with tons left in reserve. One of the greatest white wines I've ever tasted

Excellent nose with all the classic Raveneau characters, wet stones/quince, minerals. Very open and expressive perhaps a bit on the showy side. The palate is full and rich and maybe not as tight as other Raveneau's but excellent nonetheless. I found this very enjoyable but not quite as typical of Chablis as I expected. I think the 2000 is a more classic example of the vineyard but wouldn't say no to another bottle of this. V.Good

Not much upside left for this vintage, but great mature Clos.

Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner with Musicians (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Late night, small glass, brief note. Lots of orchard frit with lemon confit and a real concentration and sense of power, rather than finesse. Very impressive.
