On the nose earthy, spicy, notes of barnyard, with some time in the glass quite cheesy. Quite hard on the palate, woody, at times hints of a slight cork taint. Spicy without showing much fruit, lots of acidity, out of balance. Based on this bottle I would recommend to drink up. 85-87?

Decanted, the wine had no sediment at all. Ruby red color. On the nose some barnyard, tar, dark fruits and sous bois. On the palate, this is overly sweet, thin and with a ridiculously short finish. Thank god I had only bought one bottle!

Grand-Puy Ducasse vertical tasting (Terkels appartment): Medium red color with a brown rim. Barnyard and animal sweat jumps out of the glass together with a bit of earthy raspberry. Slightly hazy on the palate, but nice rustic nuances. Good length.

Good youthful colour, nose is a bit weak, some fruit, a hint of kirsch but not much. To taste this reminds me of the kind of Chateauneuf I used to drink in my students days. There is a fair bit of young, peppery fruit and a bit of cherry but this has quite a distinct bitter, coarse and dusty edge to it. Certainly drinkable but rather rustic. Not expensive at £14.50 but not a wine I will be revisiting in a hurry. A poor bottle perhaps?

Sabon Prestige/Secret Vertical (Restaurant AOC): Animalistic nose.
The palate has a solid depth with red currants coming through and a fair amount of acidity. A rustic wine.

Not as good as I remember the last bottle. Seemed a bit weak and dilute.

Mid colour. Initially bit farmyard like on nose but later more fruit. Great balance and finesse depite strength. Good length. Best wine this year.
