  • Loved this wine, at Positano, complex long cherry fruit and chestnut, with smoky leather. Ready to drink, was a nice accompanyment with red pasta. Superb.

  • Just a touch of brick on the rim. Forward nose of raspberry and mushroom and just a touch of leather. The palate is smooth with good intensity, great acidity and balance. Good length. In its prime. Drink now to 2015.

  • Excellent, although not traditional Ital sangio wine. Dark color moving to brick orange at the rim. Medium-full body with dark fruit showing secondary characteristics. Similar to a very good right bank bdx. Seems to be at or close to peak.

  • We just love this wine! Big super Tuscan with lots of smoke, earth, leather, cherry. Soft tannins and and is ready to drink NOW. Drank with braised short ribs as a main course. Fantastic.

  • very nice wine. definite food wine. the sangiovese component of this blend with 30% cabernet is evident and is fantastic. some tannins remain. this wine is good for another 3-4 years easy.

  • Complex and delicious. I wondered if this might be too early to open this bottle, but it's drinking very well. Plum and cherry on the nose, and more plum and leather on the palate. Slightly tart flavor. Soft tannins, and very well integrated, with a good structure and mouthfeel to the wine.

  • Drank with osso buco. Did not decant, as I was looking for a bottle of 1996 Barbaresco, couldn't find it and turned to this instead. Already with a definite garnet tinge to the plum colour, almost orange on the rim. Had that slightly chemically smell I associate with most Italian reds, also with lots of blackberry, cherry fruit. On the palate it was very dry, medium to full bodied with tasty currant and blackberry fruit. It was a good foil for the food, but very dry by itself. Interesting to see what the remaining half of the bottle tastes like in a few days.
2 days later - better but not fully resolved - became a little more rounded, still dry, a very nice food wine, but needs a little more fruit and character to be >90 pts.
