Dark ruby garnet. Pronounced aromas of dark berry, ripe plums, mossy earth, vanilla, coffee, faded roses. Bright fruit on the palate with intense aromatic back notes, smooth tannins, light body, sweet acids. Lovely counterpoint between the complex aromas and the purity of fruit on the palate. Excellent with roasted Jerusalem artichokes and eggplant, tomato and feta. Long finish. 13% alcohol.

Nose of violets, jambon cru, fragrant plums, leather, with a top note of ash. Gripping dry fruit on the palate with sweet clear underlayer and a broad acid frame, aromatic note of sweet spice at the back with a salty mineral finish. Ever shifting colors and flavors. Lovely with middle eastern meatballs.

3rd of 6. Everything I said in my previous notes still applies. Savory herbal and meat notes on the nose. Tart fruits with underlying minerality and black pepper on the long finish. Fantastic wine for the price. Glad I have more. I don't think you need to rush to consume these if they are well stored.

This was opened at 5 pm and poured into 2 375 mL bottles. The first glass was poured at 8:30 pm. Terrific bottle. Smells of Syrah, herbs, tapenad and rocks. Quite aromatic. Tastes like it smells. Long, layered and complex. Very impressive and awesome QPR at $30! Stunning wine at the price and blind I might have thought this was a much more expensive Cornas. I loved this wine on release and it is still awesome now. Well done!

Last of my bottles and a good but not great showing. Plenty of bright red fruit accented with peppery spice, and touches of earth and leather now starting to show, but there's also a surprising reductive, faintly burnt rubber-like aspect to the nose that never really blows off with air and distracts from the fruit. Once again it has a light, graceful palate presence, but I'd like this a whole lot more without that bit of reduction on the nose.

This still needs about an hour of air post decant to show its best. This wine is gorgeous. Love the distinctive Syrah nose. Meaty, herbal, with olive tapenade wrapped around the fruit with a very long finish. This a wine to contemplate.

Nice example of St. Joseph. Floral/lavender notes, dark fruit, and spice on the nose. The lavender is a bit less dominating than when I last tasted this and it is better now. I suspect it will continue to get better for a few more years, but will be better while the fruit is fresh so probably not past another 3-5 years.

Pure syrah smell, dark berries and a little earth. The palate is pure syrah fruit with a touch of meatiness and olive. Light and elegant but in a masculine mode. I$d like to taste side by side with the VDP.

This hits the spot. In a fantastic place right now - yes, it's incredibly young, but there's so much complexity already with bright floral, smoky and peppery notes framing the bright fruit, and a faint savoury saline meaty element emerging with air. Very graceful and delicate on the palate, and really outstanding to drink now.

Violets, ripe blue/black berries, hint of vanilla, salty minerality with a slightly meaty edge. Beautiful aromatics. In the mouth, it's a little rougher around the edges, but still light on its feet and quite nice. Similar flavors though not as complex or layered as the nose. Tannins dry things out quickly. 90+

A step up from the previous bottle, particular in terms of the aromatics, which now have a powerful peppered bacon quality that's great to sniff. On the palate, it's still as light and fresh (yet still somehow meaty) as before. Faury always delivers.

Delicious wine in an easy, approachable style but still retains excellent N. Rhone Syrah typicity. Blue/black fruits, primary, soft palate, young, soft thick tannins and a silky texture. I don't know if the softness and the approachability is due to 2011 being a drink-me-now vintage. I really like the Old School style here, not too much oak and nothing out of proportion. I would add this to my own cellar, but will pass in favor of a more structured vintage. With Jason R. at Tangled Vine on the Upper West Side.

Herbal bay leaf and savory. So delicate and nuanced. This wine is in a super sweet spot. After having cracked and opened this for about an hour this is honestly one of the best bottles of wine i've had in a long time (both of the 6 of these I have had and just in general)...this is simply a GREAT bottle. There are all sorts of indescribable elements to this that are delicious. It has a 3rd and 4th dimension. Perfect St. Joseph to my palate, this is in the same style vein as their syrah: clear, pure, and bright expression with red fruit, herbs, and rocks, not too tannic or tough, just delicious drinking that'll be even better in a few years.

Very floral on the nose with some herb scents like thyme and lavender and dill. Fairly direct on the palate but deliciously so - very easy to drink with lots of acidity and some really nice liveliness in the mouth. Some nice cherries and minerals and meatiness present a very enjoyable flavor profile. Excellent lively, vibrant wine full of flavor without any unnecessary weight.

This is fantastic. A classic Northern Rhone aromatic profile with smoke, lavender, olives and saline/briny notes combining in a scent that's hard to move away from, and great purity and lightness on the palate. Bright acids keep it very fresh and elegant, and this is all too easy to drink now.

Classic, old-world, rustic, Syrah. Cloudy cherry color. Nose of red peppers, orange peel, lavender, dried cherries, and tobacco. Palate follows with a nice, round entry of lush cherries, mushrooms, herbs, spices, bacon fat, cured meat, and burned marshmallows, leading to a very clean and puckery finish that deftly lingers. Medium-bodied and ready-to-drink now, this should get better over the next year or two. Best with food: we had it with chicken sandwiches and a hearty veggie bake.

Nice, flavorful Syrah. It may have needed more time to breathe then we gave it as the best balance of flavor came at the last. Very French in its medium body and grace, and as a complement to good food, particularly lamb. Would buy again.
