Deep dark magenta color, not much on the nose, bit of earth. Medium bodied with nice black cherry fruit, good acidity and balance. Punches above it’s weight class. Still drinking well, solid quaff.

Still drinking very well right now - Jan. '18 Espresso, dark chocolate, and slight pepper on the nose Palate is bold red fruit, strawberry, cherry and raspberry. Beautiful finish with acidity, moderate tannin and bread yeast coating the mouh. Monterey Pinot is a hot buy right now!

Needs time to open....chemically at first. 30 minutes later very full and good. Perhaps would be better if drank earlier. Suggested drink between 2014-2016 and drank in early '17

No formal notes. Lots of toasted oak influence on the nose of this PN with a biting bitterness on the midpalate. Not worth the price of admission. 85/100.

When I reviewed this wine about a yar ago, I was pretty ctirical and unkind. There was fruity potential, but things had not evolved harmoniouisly yet. An extra year of bottle age has really helped integrate tings. Now this is a solid 88+ Pinot that is more or less exactly what we have come to like with decent California style Pinot. It displays that Monterrey, cool climate with big sunshine ripeness with plenty of barnyar and, mushroom farm aromas and flavors. Not overtly fruity. Spicy. The tannins have really settled in over the past year. Nicely integrated oak. Cherry, berry, licorice and still pretty big acid on the finish.

This is a fruit forward very aromatic wine with fresh strawberries. Hints of black pepper, roses, leather and french oak. Low tannins and easy to drink.

Friday Walk Around Tasting at Sam's Fine Wine & Spirits, Lexington, SC 10/17/2014 (Sam's Fine Wines & Spirits, Lexington, SC): There are a lot of things I like about this Pinot, but a few I'm not so sure about. I like the cold climate type, deep, subdued, somewhat reticent flavors and aromas. To it's credit, it does not have any of those over baked fruit flavors. This is about as close to Burgundian in style as they get in California. The color is very light magenta. The nose is earthy and not all that fruity. The palate is extremely dry from what I think are over extracted tannins that sort of spoil what could have been a higher scoring wine. Has a nice touch of earthy minerality that also is very Burgundian.

I picked this up on sale for $12 not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Slight earth on the nose, bright cherry palate, and a long warm finish, it fits the weeknight light red category I am often trying to fill.

Not as focused as their Sonoma Coast pinot, which I prefer. It's more extracted, a touch jammy. Cooked cherries, spice and the faintest hint of garrigue. Drinks well for the low-$20s, but nothing special.

The wine is light to medium Crimson colored. It smells like Raspberry and fresh cherries with a hint of cigar box. On the palate there is the taste of cherries, strawberries and cola. There is some complexity here and the finish is long and lingering. This is a very enjoyabel wine that drinks well above the price point.
