Fantastic. Well aged fruit with perfect acidity combines for a luscious and silky palate with medium long finish. Although at the peak of the drinking window, this will continue to delight through 2025.

Hit the spot tonight, with 8 inches of fresh sloppy snow outside. My last of 3 bottles -- still drinking well. Fruit forward. Bright red fruit, cherry, spice, cocoa. Silky tannins with a dried fruit finish.

Outstanding Zinfandel with layers of black and red fruits accented nicely by a little spice and oak. Wine is likely in the zone, drink now through 2020.

One hour decant. Dark, briary, juicy red fruit and blueberry extract, well balanced with peppery spice, anise, and chocolate covered cherries. Nice match with beef medallions and pesto ravioli. Yummy and likely in the window for 2-3+ years. Only 1 bottle, would re-buy.

Fruit forward, spice, and put on weight with air time. Seemed a step down for the last bottle - I could have used a bit more complexity tonight. That said, still an excellent bottle of zin!

Consistent with my previous June 2017 tasting note, but just slightly rounder and flabbier. A very impressive Zin nonetheless. Drink through 2019, it is not likely to improve with further aging.

I grew up thinking of Zin as a pink weak and watery picnic wine but I'm loving the high alc high sugar Cali Zins. That said, this is nice a fun glass, like a date but not blossoming into a relationship. It's fun and sweet and decently (but not entirely) balanced but it's maybe a little simple compares to the black magic of The Prisoner for example which I love.

Very good Zin. Lots of lush fruit, dry, medium tannins, velvety on the palate. Medium finish. Just really good for our taste. Used it in braised beef short ribs and then finished the bottle with the meal. I would definitely buy this again.

Not sure if this isn't my style, but it was a pretty one note, straightforward wine, and not something that you would expect to see on a top 100 list. Fruit forward, a little spicy but not overtly so.

Wow, is this good! Everything you ever wanted in a big Zin, yet nicely balanced. Another excellent bottling from this iconic vineyard. Ruby, with medium + intensity. The nose is clean, complex and still developing, with medium (+) intensity. Ripe black cherry, red currant, black plum, sweet baking spices, with a nice overlay of oak (vanilla and caramel). The palate is dry but very fruity, with a very luscious mouthfeel. The acidity and tannins are medium and the alcohol is high (14%) but so well integrated that it is not particularly noticeable. The flavors are consistent with the nose, with primarily ripe black cherry and black currant. The wine is full bodied, with medium (+) flavor intensity and length. This wine is drinking well now, is still fairly youthful, and will probably continue to do well for several more years. Best served with a slight chill.

Opened up with vibrant aromas - ready to go on open, albeit a little watery, unlike other zins at this price point. A fruit bomb - yet/and so flavorful! Cherry, berry, a touch of spice (far less than a Carlisle), sure (Graham cracker crust). Smooth and easy drinking with loads of flavor. Not a wine to ponder, just to enjoy!

Immensely complex and powerful, yet with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Bright and fruit-forward with cherry, sage, white pepper and earth tones. Bold black raspberry, licorice notes round out the sip with a silky finish that lingers for quite a while. One of the best Zinfandels I have ever had. Marvelous

A very polished wine, as one of the other reviewers wrote. Lots of berry flavors, dark and red with nice subtle spice. It took a while to open up and some of the darker flavors like licorice started to show. Really smooth beautiful zin if you like the style. Will hold the rest for a while to see if it improves.

Still an excellent work. However, the only question for me is the style of Zinfandel. My personal preference is more toward the style of their Sonoma county one. In that line of wine, I can taste more power and zeal from Zin, but the home ranch is too well-polished for me. Although it's more classic and expensive style, the power of Zin is missing.

One hour decant. Had along side a Caymus 2013 with standing rib roast. My wife and Daughter-in-law both preferred the Caymus, while my and my son both thought the Home Ranch was better, and more integrated. This is really good stuff, but you really need to have it with something substantial.

Cherries, strawberries and cream...a little cedar & spice. Nice balance and a good finish. Really like most of what they do at Seghesio, but I think I'm more a fan of their recent Monte Rosso and Rockpile bottlings.

Uhmmm... Wow! Was not really expecting this. Far more sweet and dense for a 2012 zin than I was expecting, although with a nose and pepper that opened cosiderably after decanting and drinking over an hour or so. Have had other Zeghesio offerings and been kind of "meh" about them, but this blew the table out of the water. Need to find this at retail...
An incredibly smooth and well balanced Zin! Quite probably the best I have ever had. I can't imagine it getting better than it is drinking now. A Classic!

This one hits the jackpot. Soft, creamy mouthfeel with medium weight but a boatload of flavor. Exotic berries and bramble, blossoming into a raspberry parfait made with crema Catalana, but without the sugar. Just when you are thinking of pouring this over vanilla ice cream, it finishes with just enough acidity to lift it over your already overworked palate. This a California gem that could be made nowhere else in the world but Sonoma. The stuff of pilgrimage. One of the New World stations of the cross.
Medium ruby, many slow moving legs, medium aromas of black berries, brambles, dried leaves. Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium ripe soft tannin, medium(+) alcohol and medium body. Medium(+0 fruit-driven palate of cherries, raisins, milk chocolate, allspice and notes of leather. Crunchy refreshing texture, alcohol heat emanating. Good length with fruit-sweet finish.
