Decent in early '18, but on the whole a bit thin - rather dry and dusty. Probably would perk up with food. I don't recall if it had this character on release or if it's the result of age. Regardless, it's almost certainly not getting any better, so drink up.

Initially disappointing for the producer and price (thinnish, stemmy and sour finish). With time and food, it fleshed out (very Burgundian in a positive way) to be a very decent PN. Savory, with red berry fruit but not fruit forward, good dusty, boysenberry finish. I'd drink it now with some air.

Fantastic as a braising element for short rib stew. For drinking?...not so much. Irredeemably sour with a lack of depth. Far too expensive for what you get out of this bottle. The style that defines Hirsch- lean, Burgundian, doesn’t work for the lower bottling. In this regard, it IS truly Burgundian.

With about 45 minutes in the glass, this opened up to be an okay if very basic PN. But it was extremely tight and not giving me anything at all upon PnP.

No real improvement from a year ago, thought it might out on a bit of weight in the bottle.
From prior notes: "Light, almost translucent ruby color. Nose of mild red fruits, herbs. Palate of red fruits, raspberry, mild spice. Light texture, thin on the palate. " Finish was medium/short. Fruit seemed a bit stewed for first 30 minutes. Not giving much on mid palate.
I am a big fan of Hirsch wines, perhaps chalk this up to an off vintage(?) My bottles purchased direct and stored well, should have done better...

Pop and pour and served with food (caldo verde soup and black beans and linguica sausage, in case you were wondering). Then tasted without food. Followed for about 3 hours. Light in color. Nose shows some sassafras/herbal notes with fresh red berries. Lots of zip with bright acidity and red berry fruits. Some tart cranberry notes as well. A lighter pinot in a refreshing style. While somewhat simple, it is enjoyable.

Pop and pour and served with food (lentil soup, and grilled cheese sandwich, in case you were wondering). Followed for about three hours, both with and without food. Bright, ruby color. Nose of fresh raspberries. Tart flavors of cranberries and raspberries. Light in texture. The acidity is a bit high in this and takes away from the fruit.

Other notes describing sour cherry, thinness are correct. Not much going on here. The floral aromatics and cranberry flavors that are inviting you lose quickly on a awfully short finish.

Light, thin. Decent balance, and certainly good acid, but rather lacking in fruit, even tho we are not at all looking for "big" fruit. This was our third bottle; all were similar. It does get more interesting on the third night, tho.

Sour - took a bottle to a restaraunt, opened it and let it breathe while enjoying a glass of Chardonnay. The Hirsch was just astringent and, worse than that, sour. Rather than drink it, I ordered a Pinot off the list and brought the rest of the Hirsch home hoping it will be better tomorrow after it breathes for 24 hours. Perhaps this Hirsch is in an awkward phase but I really think it is just too thin and lean for my taste.

Pop and pour. Opened the same day the wine arrived in a shipment from the winery. I thought I had bought 3 when I had actually purchased 4 so I opened one up as if it was an "extra." Served without food; tasted after a 2012 Myriad Syrah and 2010 Torrin The Banshee (a GSM blend). Color is a ruby purple with a nice shimmer. Nose is cool climate pinot, with fresh red berries, strawberries and spice. Flavors of fresh crushed berries and spice. Very lively with crisp tart fruit and a touch of grapefruit citrus notes. This is a lively wine with good acidity and nice balance between the fruity and the savory.

Raspberry, red berries, and herbs on the nose. Medium-high acidity with more red fruit on the palate. Medium finish.

Light and very acidic finish, lacked fruit. Far worse than 13 San Andreas recently tried.

Prior vintages of this wine I have had are more interesting. This was light, refreshing but nothing special...may do better with a longer decant

A good entry wine to Hirsch that you can pop open any night. Would let it air out a bit, but you'll get some acidity and ripe fruits.

Great every day wine. Translucent, cranberry, lithe, soft tannin but firm finish. Very Sonoma Coast.

This was an average California Pinot Noir. Light and fruity with good balance. Lacks the polish of the San Andreas Fault bottle.
