Celebration of Life (Mike's house): This wine got its points on the nose, which is an exotic mix or orchids, other flowers, potpourri, perfume and red to purple fruit. The palate is on the thin side and ends with a slightly bitter finish. For a grape I'd never heard of, and at this price, it was enjoyable.

Local Natives and Hotel Biron (Hayes Valley, SF): Medium plus concentration ruby in color. Slightly raisinated ripe dark fruit. Low tannins. Slightly elevated acid. Ripe on the palate as well - feels 14%. Slight earth. Hint of wood, but mostly neutral - just a tiny note of sawdust/sanded wood.

From mountain viñards of volcanic soils at 2,400 ft elevation in the Peloponnisos peninsula. Aghiorghitiko is an ancient varietal also known as St. George. Skouros is located in Argos, a famed city near ancient Mycenae, where some of the Homeric heroes were from. Meh. I was unimpressed by this wine. Past its prime, and just not a very pleasant wine. It tastes tired. I paid $17 too, so overpriced. Skouras is usually a reliable brand, so this was very disappointing. I only drank one glass of it.

Bold, tannic but not too oaky. Dark red color, with a heavy body. A well balanced wine with some acid. Decanted for half an hour, began to take on a meaty finish after being open for a while.

A private lunch (Restaurant HKK *, London, UK): Pleasant enough, but not really distinctive, even if there is a touch of mediterranean warmth and herbs. Modern style, slightly lactic nose, ripe and gentle tannins from the skins, medium weight; hint of vanilla on the finish, good length.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the drinking window for this wine? I want to tag it with a drinking window before I put it in my bodega. Average of all vintages is about five years. Any thoughts you may have are welcome. Thanks, and cheers!

This was opened last night and the half full bottle has sat on the counter under cork. This is pretty solid with a decent amount of ripe fruit, but the wine is still somewhat restrained and elegant. Some spice accents, soft with medium acid. Very quaffable.

Wine Fair (Rijswijk): Ripe red and dark berry fruits, some spiciness and a firm amount of sweetness balanced by good acidity. Overall a good quality soft and friendly wine.

Decanted a couple hours. Very much a Savory wine. Smells very woodsy or oak barrel type. Slight trace of berry. A nice smooth savory taste with a decent aftertaste. This was very nice and can be drank by itself.

Two and a half hour decant, an opaque purple color on the pour with long, slow moving legs, a multitude of them, this has some alcohol in it. The bouquet is red meat, cherry and plum with a touch of licorice. The palate is subtle with cassis and a hint of white pepper. Slightly tart and chocolatey in the tannins the mouthfeel is medium with an overall accessible style with a light body, the finish is mellow. My first Agiorgtiko, makes me definitely want to come back for more.

Reticent nose with subtle hints of anise and red plum. Tart on the palate, crisp red fruit, raspberry, goji Berry with a chalky finish. Good food wine value

Monthly tasting club LTC 2015-07; A mixed set of white and red wines. (@ MM): In the bouquet mainly cherries. On the palate a sweet start with red berries and cherries. A bit lactic with fresh acidity and slightly sticky tannin.

Reminding me of a solid southern France, or Portuguese red. Acidity a little soft but a very pleasant red and easy to drink.

Pleasant wine, reminiscent of many Portuguese blends. Great acid, inky, and fresh. Very nice finish.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2015-01; Greece by an importer.: Red and dark berries, spiciness, pepper and licorice in the bouquet. On the palate juicy fruits, ok acidity, soft tannin. The oak is evident and not really integrated.
