Fully mature, the wine is soft, round and almost lush in texture. Medium/full bodied, with loads of olives, black cherry, pepper and jam, this is not a wine for further aging. Produced from a blend of 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre and 25% Syrah, this was the debut vintage for the young Julien Barrot.

Bad cork, disintigrated; wine decanted. Frankly, at best a VERY restrained hint on the nose of a bit of dried brambly fruit; virtually no fruit to taste, some residual oak I suppose. Quite disappointing. Possibly a bad bottle given the cork, but it was still wine, not vinegar. No rating, hoping that others have better experiences.

Time in the cellar has done wonders for this wine. Full bodied, a little bricking at edges, subtle cherry fruits and smooth as silk. A little one dimensional but delicious none the less. Seems like it should hold on for a few more years?

Final bottle. Popped and poured. Has put on a little weight since the last bottle. Nice floral nose of violets, sandalwood, with a little funk of leather and black fruit rather than red. On the palate black raspbery, black cherry, spice, leather. Finishes crips with smooth tannins. Excellent to oustanding. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

first night was ok, well bricked but oozing caramel and dried cherries. night two was much diminished. For the last bottles, this should be consumed the same evening it is opened. DRINK

color a brick red, less purple than 1+ years ago. The nose has darkened and lost its Raspberry edge. It is more damp earth and smoky dark fruit. The body is medium having picked up some weight over the last year or so. The profile is still brambles and herbs, but with enough fruit to make it interesting. The tannins are well integrated, though finish is rather short, and is dominated by earthy/mushroom components. This is a darker more brooding wine that is more enjoyable than previous bottles. DRINK VGOOD

Popped and poured. Nose is very subdued with hints of strawberry, raspberry, vanilla, leather, and spice. On the palate, bright red raspberry and cherry, spice, leather, vanilla. Finishes nicely with smooth tannins. Excellent. Good value. Drink or hold.

Very beautiful wine. I loved this, but maybe I waited too long. This particular bottle has a bitter aftertaste like a small dry blueberry. Otherwise very nice.

Subdued nose with raspberries peeking through, raspberries on the palate with subdued earth. Tannins are too well hidden for my taste, the finish is short. Enjoyable, but not memorable.

2 hour decant. brick red in color. Dark cherries, black licorice, black currents on the nose, cherries and currents dominant on the palate, the finish of which was unexpectedly acidic. Will consume with surf and turf. ... then fell apart in the glass turned to tar and cherry nyquil.

Wineflock - Chateauneuf du Pape 2000-2003 (Dennis'): Group #10, My #7 - Full bright red color. Medium nose of red fruit with a full vanilla creamy note. Creamy round red fruit with some bitterness on the finish.

Dark deep redish purple to the eye. Very primary cherry flavor with a touch of game on the nose and palate. Good tanin structure and balance. I would like a bit more spice and nuance but I thought this wine to be quite good.

Not amazing, but remarkably good for the money (now discounted down to $20 a bottle!). As others have pointed out, this is elegant rather than brutish, and happily it lacks (most of) the pruney overripe flavors that haunt the vintage. Better on the second day.

Nice CdP more elegant than powerful. A lot going on. Deep purple color. The nose expresses jammy black fruits accompanied with vanilla and spicy notes. A rich and fleshy start with an elegant mouth.

We had two glasses a half hour after decanting. Nice soft fruit. Had a more a day later and was even smootehr. nice CDP. subtle tannins will surely soften further with time.

Delicious '03 CdP. One of the more balanced and refined examples I've had from this vinatge so far, without sacrificing any of the exuberance and richness you would expect. Pure, clean, bright. Long finish. Very good wine that may end up aging better than a lot of the big monsters of the vintage.

Post-Xmas CdP Tasting at Edina Country Club in Edina, MN: Popped and poured
Tasted blind: Served 9th out of 12
NOSE: strawberry and raspberry aromas off-set by a pretty floral note (is this *really* an '03?!?); a bit musty.
BODY: ruby color of medium-great depth; clear; (forgot to note weight of wine)
TASTE: earthy; smoke and red fruits; cigar; tannic and a bit alcoholic.
B: 50, 5, 11, 15, 7 = 88
