Some nice minerality, cedar box and cassis with well integrated oak notes. For such young vines this bodes well for future vintages as the Ferguson Vineyard sinks it’s roots into the fractured basalt bed rock.

Young and temperamental, but not afraid to hint at future brilliance - this bottle, like true quality Bordeaux, is screaming for time to develop. Fortunately, it's showing all of the signs that said patience and development will provide the anticipated result (namely a wine that combines tactful structure with a well integrated and seamless palate). Both the nose and palate provided dark fruit immediately, showing black raspberry, black cherry, and black currants; quickly though, the wine's intensely savoury character took hold. A touch of nutmeg was overtaken by herbs and black pepper, followed by a strong sense of earth, gravel, and tobacco. Cedar and charred wood stemmed from a surprisingly subtle oak presence; six years of age showed by way of leather, prune, and a slight barnyard note. Exotic spice (reminiscent of red chills) came through on the flnish along with a hint of chocolate orange, but ultimately cigar and smoke conquered all. I suppose the preceding makes it sound like the wine was right on point, but in truth the tannins still felt quite unripe and fairly harsh, while the wine felt a bit thin on the mid-palate. I greatly appreciated the fact that it was far from a fruit bomb, and I think it has great things ahead; it'll just take quite a few more years to find out! 91+

Slow opening and then delicious. Balanced, intense, complex. I suspect it is very near its best right now.

Very nice blend, and above-average even for L'ecole. Still: hard to believe this won the prestigious best Bdx in the world, few seasons back.

Minerally taste from the fractured basalts at Ferguson. A delightful Bordeaux blend!
