Medium to light in colour, red-brownish, looks more aged than it is. Good in the nose, broad flavours of red fruit and blossom. Lovely, harmonius and fresh. Reminding me of a sophisticated pinot but richer, quite refined for a californian. Palate very interesting also but different direction than the nose. Taste of dried fruit and raisins, almost like a tawny port, and vanilla. Long lasting. Smooth wine, round and soothing, with a different note. Not cheap. Fascinating and well done, will not become my house wine but great for a change.

Though well balanced, this wine is still huge and extracted. I doubt the 15.6% alcohol would be so well behaved if served at warmer temperatures. Cellar temp and time to breathe are necessities here. I'd call this food wine, meaning it needs a nice fatty ribeye or something like that to counter it.
