Less Celebrated France (WIMPS) (La Trompette, Chiswick, London): Very pale lemon pith in colour. Fromage sur le nez, yet the palate is rich and complex, somehow sour and sweet(?), overwhelmingly sensual and pure, not particularly fruity (perhaps a suggestion of apricot) and remains crystalline. First experience with Dagueneau. Cerebral and idiosyncratic.

Colour: pale yellow, with a green tinge. Nose: very expressive from the outset - limestone, smoke, fresh pineapple, kumquat, Bakelite, nitrocellulose lacquer. Palate: refreshing acidity, more minerality, viscosity at the back of the palate. Long finish. Such elegance and complexity.

Nice wine. Very pale color. Precise, balanced, very good acidity, floral aroma, grapefruit, hints of oak. Could be more profound and more mineral, but the QPR is very good.

SLDS June 2017 #2: Gooseberry, vanilla, perfumed white florals and lemon. Really good length, this is nicely balanced with a little fruit sweetness but also some light herbs and good acidity. I like the texture and minerality of the wine. A very good experience.

Ouvert sans bouchon une heure puis carafé avant le service, l'aération lui fait du bien. C'est un beau Sauvignon, pas trop mûr ni trop acide - j'ai hâte de voir ce que la garde lui réserve. Un vin de gastronomie.

Medium-light yellow. Initially very discrete, closed nose, later aromas of citrus, wax and some grass appeared. Very lean an light on the palate, Needs a bit more stuffing. This is a decent SauvBlanc but nothing to write home about, especially given the provenance.

Double blind at dinner. Very pale yellow. Initially perhaps a touch too cold as the wine is aromatically muted with a waxy palate, as it warms up in the glass the Sauvignon Blanc grape reveals itself much clearer with grass joining the citrus flavors and the touch of oak. Some minerality but not particularly complex. Glad I had finally a chance to try the Pur Sang but for the price, and if it does not have to be Suavignon Blanc, I think there are better whites in Burgundy, especially in Chablis.

What do you get when you take a visionary couple him with great terroir, dedication to perfection, willingness to experiment with oak and a passion for Sauvignon Blanc? Yup, you got it...the legacy of a person who lived life perhaps a bit too much to the fullest...RIP, Monsieur Didier Dagueneau.
Transparent whitish-yellow with hints of green. In the right (or wrong?) light, you might confuse for water. Bright, citrus fruits with a subtle expression of toasty-oak. The nose eclipses the eye...occasionally the most pleasant of young ladies we ever have met...but not often ;-). A touch tangy, exceedingly dry, great structure, long finish...et voila, definitely one of the best reasons for the very, continued existence of Sauvignon Blanc!

Less Celebrated France WIMPS #164 28th April 2023 (La Trompette, Chiswick): Sherbet pip and lemon oil nose. Not obviously sauvignon blanc. There is some struck match and a little celery leaf. Palate bracing and transparent. Very youthful. Classy stuff.

A lot of tropical notes and even more on the palate. Medium acidity and lots of complexity continues after the initial taste. Finish is a bit short

Delicate, pure, refined citrus fruits, mid body and length, too young to live up to the price at this point.
