Lovely Austrian Riesling. The Smaragd designation born out with a full bodied wine with 13.5% alcohol. Stone fruit flavors of peach and then wet stone. This can go for a good bit longer and might get better. Great acidity masked by the fruit. A touch of sweetness but maybe that's the big fruit load.

drinking well...deep yellow color and initially fairly tart/acidic that opens and broadens with air. Wine never becomes what I would call sweet and is well balanced. I thought it paired very well with rich Thai food that had a good deal of coconut. Not sure I would buy again but definitely enjoyed the wine

Dunkles, sehr intensives Goldgelb. Glockenklar. Ein Traum von einem Riesling!

1 hr decnat; golden in color, very honeyed and somewhat viscous though very good acidic balance; obviously infected with botrytis this year. Definite sipper, though lovely.

Relatively dark yellow. Sweet, perfumed and floral on the nose, with grapefruit notes. Rich and ripe in the mouth, with plenty of acidity. A bit disjointed and needs cellaring.

Prager Dinner with Robert Bodenstein (Chicago, IL): This is a dry riesling that seems to have benefitted from the riper vintage, which bestowed on this wine some honeyed tones, as well as a bit of sweetness from the riper fruit. Despite that, there is some serious cut at the same time, which makes this a pretty good package. It's plausible that the two extra years of bottle age are what it takes to transform something like the (relatively unintegrated) 2015 to this.

Lots of potential, but needs time. Pure Fleshy and citrus fruit with good ripeness, but hiding right now behind loads on stones and minerals. Structure shows the ability for long term aging.

Enormous depth on the nose, fine, elegant, lots of minerality. Juicy on the palate, super intense, mineral, powerful finish. Lovely purity of fruit. Keep. 93-94+

What a lovely Riesling. Wonderful complex nose. Delightful minerality and acidity to wrap around food. Great by itself and delightful with food. First Class IMO!

Man is that a pretty Riesling nose. White peach, tropical and then incredible acidity. Percing is the word that is being tossed around. And I would agree with that. Apparently this is best around year 10, if not later. They just kind of grip you I am being told. And that is very true.

This is a classic example of the elegant refinement of the 2013 vintage in Austria. It's sleek, focused, and extremely intensely mineral. It shows a lot of depth after about 45 minutes in the decanter, but there's obviously still a lot of complexity buried in this youthfully taut frame. There is a lightness to the wine that makes it extremely refreshing, so much that it's almost difficult to put the glass down. I might have to buy more of this one; I think the potential is there for true greatness in a few years. It's plenty delicious now, but I will wait a bit before opening another.

Not a great bottle
Pretty advanced with deep yellow as before but fruit sweetness gone and able to buffer the acidity
Too bad

Mittleres Goldgelb. Saubere Rieslingnase, keine Botrytis. Steinfrucht (weisser Pfirsich), etwas Apfel, Hauch von Honig.
Am Gaumen vollmundig aber Balance in Perfektion! Toller Zug am Gaumen, schöne Säure und Wärme, weiche Fruchtaromen... Lang, tief, GROSS!

Ultra serious stuff here, hugely complex, with crystalline structure, a rock solid core, crunchy fruit, and a long long finish. For the long haul.
