Tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage wines, with the bottle being provided by Rob Norberg. Medium gold and showing a promising nose of citrus, stones, vanilla and pear, it falls short on the palate due to a lack of acidity. The round middle is not saved by the medium-length, equally round finish. I was quite surprised (as were other tasters) when the identity of this wine was revealed. Drink now-12/13.

Med gold color and fresh nose for most of the evening. This MDT was a solid btl with the nice stone - lemon flavors you expect from Chablis. Maybe a little fat for chablis. Not sure this rises above a well aged AOC chablis. I agree with someone else who said Fevre is no Dauvissat. Its a couple notches down but solid chablis non the less. Fevre has been overpriced since the 05 vintage IMO. I have 4 more blts and I may start drinking them up as I detected a very faint hint of pre-mox towards the end of this blt. Paid $35, worth $ 20-25 IMO.

Oh my, was this wine in a great place last night. Golden yellow color. A splash of lemon on the attack, followed by solid minerality that merged into butterscotch notes on the finish. Incredibly long -- 45+ seconds. This is was great Chablis is all about. Being patient has been difficult, but it can be oh-so-rewarding...

Gray market-imported by Adventures in Wine. Medium yellow, no brown. Hard to put my finger on the exact problem here-maybe a little too much vanilla oak, maybe a tad oxidized, and even maybe a little corked. Whatever the problem, it's just off, a fact that is all the more apparent upon opening a pristine bottle of Sancerre as a replacement. What a fitting end to a long, bizarre relationship with 2002 Fevres, as full of ups and downs as many human relationships have.

I'm still underwhelmed by this. I fell for the 'experts' opinions suggesting that the Fevre wines were at the level of Dauvissat and Raveneau: I just don't think that's accurate, at least not if aging capacity is part of the equation. When the wines aren't outright flawed, they're a bit unrefined. With luck, they may reach very good (not that there's anything wrong with that), but I've yet to see one surpass such a level.

Very pale yellow, this gives off faint chalky aromas laced with quinine. In the mouth, this is missing just a touch of the richness and complexity that shows up in the Grand Cru that follow, but the weightlessness and overall balance are convincing. This bottle has that almost feminine delicacy and elegance that are the hallmarks of the best Montée de Tonnerre. In fine shape…

Though I've had a couple of bottles of Fèvre which seemed slightly advanced, this is the first one I would call poxed. Not horribly so, and drinkable, but enough that I consider it flawed. Color was fine, but the nose had some slight oxidative characteristics, and it was a bit worse on the palate -- muddled and imprecise, not what I expect from Chablis.

As with every other bottle of this I've had, holding up very well without any trace of oxidation. Yellow. Orange peel aromatics, fatter in style. The saline qualities are in the background but are definitely present, and the acidity is more than adequate.

Very pale in color; lots of creaminess on the nose (too much in my estimation, but that's a personal issue), with dabs of lemon oil and honey; a hint of barrel lingers in the empty glass. A wine of 'not quites': not quite piercing enough, not quite saline enough, not sufficiently flinty; not complex. There is way more 'tang' on the palate than there is in the nose. Not bad, by any means, but underwhelming (perhaps my expectations were set too high). My 'yardstick' for this cru is Raveneau and it's worth bearing in mind that the Fevre was one-third the price of the Raveneau.

A rich Chablis with chalky underlying fruit that sings when warmed to 65 degrees and beyond. I prefer my Chablis on the older side so will let this rest for another 2-3 years and see what happens. lovely stuff. 91 pts

Medium yellow. Rich and relatively full bodied. A fat. lower acid '02 that lacks the nuance and great Chablis core of the Valmur tasted the other night.

Crisp, green apple and lots of acidity. Minerality....drinks more like a Gruner Veltliner than Chablis. Overly acidic, something like drinking tonic water.

Palate more suspect than ever given the flu, but I thought this was terrific and nicely crisp with enough fruit to balance. Others seemed to really enjoy this.

Still greenish but picking up some yellow. This seems to have changed very little since my last bottle 15 months ago. It walks a tightrope between terrific underlying acidity and the richness of the vintage. If my memory serves me, perhaps a little more orange oil on the nose and chalkiness on the palate. Similar incipient secondary tones as in mid-2007. Excellent, very fresh, very rich Premier Cru Chablis.

Light yellow color. The first day, this was giving up very little. Not tight in an acidic way, just very little nose or flavor. On day 2, this has opened up a fair bit. I'm struck more by the mouthfeel than the flavors -- creamy, soft and very long. It's elegant, but there's just not a lot of flavor here. Lemon curd, some minerality, but little intensity -- it reminds me of a soft sancerre. Enjoyable I guess, but I'm not sure what to make of it...

This case of chablis has been very variable, with two or three bottles showing signs of oxidation. However this bottle is perfect. A bright medium yellow colour, minerally bouquet, dry but full on the palate, perfect balance & a long finish. Drinking beautifully now.

Pale with glimmer of green--this LOOKS like Chablis! Smells like it too, with subtle sea shell but in addition, a faint lactic quality. Fresh, excellent richness and length of fruit with balancing acidity. Not the most mineral infused example of Chablis, so perhaps a bit fleshy for purists, but at a very enjoyable point now, seemingly just at the cusp of blossoming secondary characteristics. I'm glad we tried one tonight. Developing beautifully.

Clean white gold in colour. Pleasant nose with some plump, lemony fruit, an underlying steeliness, and - later - some yeasty/biscuity aromas. Oh, and a hint of washing-up liquid... not unpleasant actually! On the palate, quite sweet, ripe white peaches, and - not quite integrated as yet - a steely acid backbone. Nice but lacking a bit in character. Maybe needs more time. But - look out! - is that a bit of oxidisation I can smell developing as I swill it around? Hopefully just my imagination...

Group premier flight #5, my #1. Slightly lighter/whiter color than the others. Exotic aroma of white fruit and perfume. Clean. Big rich mouthful of ripe yellow fruit and almost a hint of butterscotch. Barely a hint of bitterness on the finish. 9/04
