Colour: Light velvety orange-pink, strikingly dark for rosé, strikingly light for red wine. Aroma / bouquet: Soft, seductive and pleasant bouquet. Atypical for rosé, very typical for an SQN rosé based on 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Syrah. A bouquet of wild strawberries, sweet gingerbread and even some cinnamon. Taste / Aftertaste: Also in the mouth this is hardly a rosé in almost anything and an SQN rosé in everything. Soft acidity, thick-juicy, concentrated and mouth-filling. Retronasal impressions of strawberry compote, licorice and gingerbread. Seriously alcoholic (15.4%), but given the power of this wine not disturbing for me. General / potential: According to many, well past its expiration date, I think it will still be EXCELLENTLY drinkable for a few years and above all 'enjoyable' '. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Taste / Aftertaste: 16 + General / potential: 9 = 92/100

Consumed back in 2020 and recognizing inventory has not caught up. This one was not at all to my tastes/expectations for a rose or an SQN wine. Orange-red color with aromas that take me to a Sangria place. Palate lacks freshness with more cooked fruit character than I want in my rose, lack of acidity on the finish and heat really carrying the structure more than anything else. An interesting novelty past its prime for my tastes. Drink.

WX Blind Pinot Noir Tasting (Danny Aliaga's House): SQN Rose are always hit or miss for me. This time it was hitting all the right cylinders. Rich funky, pungent aromas of dark fruits, iron ore, road tar and some dark spice. Balance is what the palate was all about for this big boy. Awesome performance this time.

This is definitely a love it or hate it wine, strawberry jam, Madeira like so kinda curious of the wine making practices for this wine. Cotton candy, tons of flavor that explodes on the palate although the heat is a bit strong. You must be a fan of hedonistic styles...

This wine was terrible. Spoofulated juice that tasted like bubblegum cotton candy dissolved in grain alcohol. Even at a penny this is not worth it. A table full of winos agree - this is only good for cleaning out the garbage disposal.

Drank with friends pre-BBQ over crackers and cheese. This is looks much more like a pinot noir than a rose. Can smell the strawberry fruit and touch of alcohol. On the palate strawberry mixed with sour fruits but enjoyable. Nice of SQN to throw this in for 1 cent to its mailing list customers and nice to drink but if I'd paid the aftermarket price of $200 I would not think of this as a good purchase.

GIVE IT AIR, after 2.5 hrs it is really shining. Lots of fruit, earlier there was a little alcohol present, but it's a big rosé and needs air to shine.

White currant, strawberry, macerated cherry and spice notes. Bright frut on the palate, with a nice spice-tinged finish. Enjoyed with a slight chill, we didn't notice any excessive alcohol.

Read other notes for the blend; I'm too lazy to post. 15.4% alcohol. I've had some SQNs with high ethanol that were still balanced and delicious. This is not one of them. Bright strawberry color, and big strawberry note. Like melted Popsicles blended with some vodka. This would be right at home at a sorority homecoming party served out of a big bowl. Needs an umbrella. A cartoon wine. Very disappointing. All that's missing is the clown car.

85% grenache, 10% mourvedre, 5% syrah. 15.4% alcohol. Clear light ruby color, much deeper red than most rose wines. The bouquet is not bad: strawberries, raspberries, cinnamon, steel wool, and rubbing alcohol. On the palate, this is hot and harsh, like cherry Robitussin. The back label bears the motto "Youthful Happiness." This wine brings back youthful memories of hunch punch in college -- vodka mixed with Hawaiian Punch. Serving at refrigerator temperature, or even with ice cubes, might make it more tolerable. If you're looking for a powerful, fruity, high alcohol rose wine at ten times the price of a good Provence rose wine, then this is the wine for you.
So most people get a lot more out of this than I do. While I am an old world wine guy at heart, I have liked/loved almost every bottle I have had from this winery and am happy to have a few bottles to cellar every year. I don't get this one, though. Has none of the the enticing characteristics of the best roses: no zip, no transparency, no refreshment. It's heavy and blatantly alcoholic - thick and out of balance. Maybe I have saved it too long or maybe the bottle is not right. Was a very kind gift from the winery but I need to call 'em like I see 'em. (75)

Wow! Undoubtedly the best (and darkest) rose' I've ever had. It was like having an SQN Grenache Lite. A gift from Walter who was there to share it at a Liaison truffle dinner. Strawberry on the nose. Walter says raspberry and cinnamon on the palate. I agree about the raspberry, but i get nutmeg. Why quibble? Almost effervescent with NO bubbles, just a great tingling sensation. Had with grilled asparagus (Yes, with wine), poached duck egg with hollandaise sauce and then a dish with scallops, prawns, and succotash (shaved truffles throughout the meal). This rose was simply superb which included a fairly decent finish. This was quite an unexpected experience for me.

Well, this was my first SQN. A very generous gift from a new friend. 15.4% A massive wine. Wonderful texture and mouthfeel, especially for a rose. Dark in color, similar to a very light Pinot Noir. Huge nose of red ripe fruits and a touch of alcohol. Ripe strawberry, dark cherry wish surprisingly balanced alcohol on the pallet. With Tempier being the king, this falls a bit short. Well done!
Dark pink -- almost the same hue as a light pinot (i.e., this is one dark rose). Huge nose of fresh red fruit that wafted over the entire dining room when opening the bottle. Delicious. A tad bit of heat on the finish.

I have to say I'm taken aback by the price these are commanding on the secondary market. I can't wrap my head around it. For me this is an ok rose, nothing special, not bad. It doesn't really hit in my wheelhouse quite right; it's quite big, a bit too sweet and ripe, raspberry, cherry, sweet, briary palate, spicy, over the top IMO. 87-88pts.

Tasted non-blind with Jay (Thank you Jay, I was curious about this one).
I would certainly say it is an excellent rose (though on the eye, it does not seem to be rose, closer in color to light red/purple). Great nose. It was an enjoyable wine. Nice on the finish (certainly not a short one, and I enjoy a nice grenache). Leaves very good feeling. That said, it was also a nice marketing lesson- we both said--Is it a top notch rose? certainly. But, not at the average market prices (388 on wine searcher), nor even in close prices.

Pop and pour at Gregory's wedding. A rose that makes rose worth drinking. This is not a $40,000 wine, which is what someone paid for the first vintage at auction last year, but it is an outstanding, flavorful rose worth owning. Strawberry, raspberry, even a bit of spice. Taste like a wine with its own merit, as opposed to a rose that tastes like someone added water to a red wine to make it a rose. Finished off the last few ounces a few days later with someone who saiud he would never get to taste a SQN Rose. He agreed that as roses go, it was very nice.
