I had a great experience with an older Blue Eyed boy a few years ago. Therefore I intentionally kept this longer than I normally would. Regrettably it didn't work out so great. Decanted 30 minutes, drank half the bottle over 2 hours, the moniker shiraz fits this wine well. Dense, brooding, a touch jammy, with clear oak influence. If you like them big and burly, this is literally your jam.

May need more time? Still quite warm on the palate heaps going on but perhaps not the best balance. Had a good breathing before consuming but didn’t help much

Quite simple aroma and flavor profile with primary aromas of ripe black berries mixing with strong secondary aromas of oak. Acidity and tannins are quite weak skewing the balance to the sweet side. Have not developed any noteworthy tertiary traits despite keeping for a few years (vintage 2013). Definetely a wine that is made'ready for consumption' the moment it comes out. Medium finish without further complexity. Had with grilled beef tenderloin with seemed an acceptable match.

Wine has big flavor and big alcohol. Deep dark fruit on the front end finishes with more than a hint of alcohol. If this wine was at 14.8 it may not have carried the sweetness of this wine but it would have been more balanced. The big fruit gets the wine into the 90's but the imbalance keeps it from a bigger score.

The secret, apparently from our experience, was to let this breathe for a good number of hours and NOT decant. The 16.5% alcohol is rather off-putting when you read it, but after breathing it was rather integrated in the wine and it would be easy upon earlier opening to say it was sweet, rather the alcohol, but as I said, hours of breathing made it all right. Jammy, juicy, plummy...we had it with an amped-up spicy rack of lamb with basil/pesto mint sauce which was a prefect pairing. A bottle of this @ 16.5% alcohol will leave the two of you feeling no pain (comfortably numb?) and appreciative of the food match with the wine. This is definitely a DRINK NOW. Do not see long term aging potential, but then we like the younger ones...

It’s big, with huge jammy fruit. However the alcohol heat from the 16% ABV is noticeable here, unlike some of the Carnival of Love and Enchanted Paths I’ve reviewed previously. Not a fan of this one - the nose is dominated by the fruit, and the palate by the alcohol.

A hearty Australian Shiraz. I have reviewed this before, so this is just an update. The wine is deep purple color, good black berry nose, and rich smooth taste. I did not try the Mollydooker shake.

Very Jammy (almost too much so) when first opened but got less so with a little time in the glass. Nose and palate of vanilla, black berry, and black plum. Nice shiraz but there are better ones out there.

Opaque purple core with light purple rim in the glass. Aromas of plum, bramble, gamey meat, and caramel. There is considerable heat in the wine. The palate brings blackberry, plush dark currant, dried plum, and raisin. Alcohol is high, and tannins are plush at medium length. Acidity is medium high, and the wine finishes at medium length. Overall, easy to drink but a bit simple and highly extracted.

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has deep purple color, with fading rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of blueberry, blackberry and cassis, oak notes of vanilla, dairy notes of cream, pungent spice of licorice, kernel notes of chocolate. The wine is youthful. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, showing high alcohol and full body. It has medium (+) flavors of black fruit such as bilberry, blackberry and cassis, oak notes of vanilla and toast, kernel notes of milky chocolate. The wine has a medium (+) finish. Conclusion: Very good quality Australia Shiraz showing how the best varietal of Shiraz can show up, it has a fairly strong intensity on the nose, with good complexity. On the palate it is equally impressive with silky tannin balancing the strong fruit and oak characters, with plenty of concentration and a fairly long finish. Ready to drink now, the wine can benefit from further ageing of another 2-3 years.

This is one of Molly Dooker's medium range wines - above the Boxer but below Carnival of Love. It has interesting instructions for a Molly Dooker shake to get air into the wine before opening. I did try this - but since I had only 1 bottle one cannot do a comparison with and without.
The wine is deep red color but clear. It has a good black fruit nose - but I could not detect any specific fruit aroma. The taste was rich and full of fruit, with plenty of tannin in the background. The wine is enjoyable now, but would benefit from extra age.

17% alcohol... Nose is intense, loaded with vanilla, so ripe, so jammy. Palate is so, so, so sweet, I mean seriously, what the fuck. Juicy, oak/spice overload, jam, macerated fruits, bubblegum.
Ludicrous wine.

I was perhaps overly optimistic and overzealous in opening the 2013 - I agree with previous notes about the alcohol heavy note, it does begin to open over the course of 1-2 hours, but is still quite young. Based on drinking the 2010-2012 vintages which have beautiful fruit-forward blueberry notes, the 2013 has these in a less impressive background. I would hold the bottle for another year or two and then try again. That being said - it's a good drink, but at this age, not quite up to what I've come to expect from the MD BEB.

It approaches sweet but then stops perfectly short and the potential blackberry turns almost to licorice - it's smooth and long to the swallow with good breadth from start to finish. (And there's a nice little kick right at the end.) Lovely. The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It tastes like blackberry and clove. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.
