This wine is super now. 3 years ago I actually disliked it as a short, iron-heavy French bistro wine. Tonight my wife presented it to me blind and I guessed a medium-high-end California Pinot with high extraction. I’m really enjoying it with airplane-cut pan roasted chicken. It’s pure and clear ruby red. Mostly high-pitched red-fruited nose, but also with some tar/asphalt and cinnamon. Deep flavors with a touch of deft oak, I think. Long with low tannin. Really tasty. A steal.

Raspberry, a hint of licorice, chocolate, and then an herbaceousness as it opens up - on the nose. Its reserved in taste - more cherry than raspberry with a definite spice component at the finish.
It rests high in the mouth and feels a little too thin, too tannic and hot to my liking. The structure is not quite right for me. But but but... good QPR and a fine wine to offer guests who aren't too particular.

Surprisingly good. I was not expecting much in light of the numerous reviews here that are not very positive. Yes it was only $12 and you wouldn't know it. Nicely balanced with moderate tannins, acid fruit and just enough residual sweetness, even upon opening. Not terribly complex, of course, but more interesting than most wines under $20, and not beyond the realm of a crowd pleaser. Would go well with a variety of foods, particularly grilled marinated meats and substantive vegetables, as well as hearty cheeses.
When buying an inexpensive wine like this you never know how good it will turn out to be, so it would be a gamble to buy a lot of it. I would have been happy to buy enough for a large party if I had known in advance.

Not sure what happened! This bottle was quite uninspiring - had almost a slight fizziness, and a very two-dimensional flavor profile more like flat soda pop than wine. Ew. Kind of a why-bother-to-drink-this experience. I won't rate this bottle as it appears to be an exception, and that might be unfair. One bottle left - we'll see if it really has turned the corner or not.
Ripe black fruit with a dash of pepper on the nose. Not complex but shows nice fruit and softgrained gripping tannins. Closes lively with acidity. This is ready to drink. Will pair well with meats and cheeses. Excellent for those evenings where you have guests that are not into wine but you want to serve something decent without breaking the bank. At 11 euro a pop this would certainly fall into that category.

About a year since I tasted this. As far as I recall has not changed much. Dark ruby in color, nice long legs while swirling. On the nose this is quite clean, still young, radiating dark black forrest fruit with white pepper. On the palette not very complex but nicely balanced and pure with medium body and soft tannins. I have said this before but its a no-brainer in terms of price-quality. Easy pop and pour on weekdays!

Decanted 2 hours. Medium-dark ruby. A bit hot on the nose, also vanilla extract, ripe cherries, smoke, spice, and dark fruits. Medium body, high alcohol (only 14%?), dry (8 g/L), medium tannin, medium - acidity.

Clear, deep ruby red. Inebriating boozy nose with wood, savory spices and fruit. Full body, densely flavored, soft tannins, long aftertaste. Sweetish but perfectly balanced by refreshing acidity and tannin. Cherry jam, almond, herbal. Well worth ageing it, perfect timing by luck. Was great with steak, could easily withstand the richness of it.

Whoops, was grabbing for the '12 but took opened this one instead. no matter i suspect there is plenty of consistency in a wine like this. Cooked with half of it and drank the rest. - Crimsom color - Fruity nose of dark fruits with some notes of tar and smoke. Flavors of dark sweet cherry, even like the chocolate pralines with cherries inside. Soft and round mouthfeel. Very long aftertaste. Impressive!

Better showing. Fleshed out. Mildly nuanced in a big frame. Not over done. With the right set of expectations (i.e. without overblown rating by someone...), it's a very good wine for the price.

The wine looks violet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blueberry. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry, plum and oak. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

stunning bargain from Lafage is the 2014 Tessellae Old Vines, a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, all aged in concrete. Much of it comes from 70-year-old vines planted in limestone and clay soils. A delicious, dense ruby wine with notes of red and black cherries, earth, spice, pepper and a touch of Provençal garrigue. Fresh vibrant acidity is also present, and the wine is uncomplicated, but rich, fleshy and very well balanced. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. Score - 90. PnP. Pretty cardinal color, a tad opaque. Petroleum and charcoal (maybe tar?) on the nose with a little strawberry/raspberry and grapefruit. A citrus note, even. The same fruits come through on the palate. Really has nice grip on the back end. Tasty.
A few hours later, there is a delightful forest-mushroom thing coming in, both on the nose and on the palate. The slightest bit of cola syrup on the nose. Some dark cherry now on the palate. This little guy is a strong competitor.

I get a pleasant and dark nose of blue and black fruits, with a smidge of pencil lead in there somewhere, but my palate was kicked with a bit of unpleasant astringency, so for me the finish just wasn't there. I probably got fair value for the $13 I paid, but I don't agree with some of the high ratings I see - WA at 94? I must be missing something.

Not too enthusiastic about this label...Seems well done but not my taste. I found it too alcohlic for the light-medium body. It is good at the nose, baked fruit, elaborate spice, and a smooth texture. In my opinion, lacks of structure and persistence.

Medium translucent ruby crimson. Grilled meat, plum, tart cherry, vanilla and rose petals on the nose. Somewhat fat and flat mouth feel with little tannin, but nice to have young with a somewhat spicey food. Flavors reflect the plum, cherry and roses in the nose with a little tar on the fairly short finish. Probably good with some spicy-tangy barbecue. Drink young and better when first opened.

PnP and ran through a vinturi, this helped but it could have used more air time prior to drinking, it opened up further in the glass over time with raspberry, earth and a slight meatiness to it. Medium bodied with a slightly shorter finish, this is a solid food wine at a nice price point.

Good Friday at Bo&Mich's (Lindfield, Sydney): Ashy, smoke and UHU on the nose, lifted with dark floral violets, awash with poster colour. Savoury spring/summer lavender, sweet and chewy, lifted with grippy acidity, with some tomato leaf herbaciousness on the finish. An easy, pleasant wine, very educational!

88-89 I think this just needs time. Big but at the same time slightly muted nose and structure. better day 2
approaching full bodied but not weighed down by any oak. Predominantly red and blue fruit is bright and pure with just enough acidity and gentle tannins for a young GSM.
nose and palate of strawberry hard candy, blueberry jam, tangy citrus rind, cocoa powder, sweet spices and a bold salt/ peppered meat note on the tail end. Definite stony minerality i associate with the region.
that being said this still seems closed compared to other highly rated JD reviewed Languedoc blends from the '13 vintage.

Pop n pour, nose dusty or dirt, subdued fruit. Violet, dark reddish, nearly translucent against light. Palate has cherry and blackberry with long finish and very slightly bittter aftertaste.
Wait a bit and spice picks up a bit. Smell oak on the nose. Bit longer... silky, balanced tannin, plum, blackberries, tangy tart, less bitter aftertaste w a hint of cocoa or chocolate. Mineral nose. Next day more balance. Long warm plummy finish.
Pretty good, would buy again. This would be a crowd pleaser.

Strong fruit flavors of blueberry, raspberry and spice. Not perfectly integrated yet, but an enjoyable wine.
This is a solid wine, but not worth the WA score.
Good value and worth the money. Nice daily drinker if you like a bolder style. The carignan grape varietal tends to have stronger tannins and acid. Had with this with pasta with spicy sausage - style worked well with the meal as expected.

PnD let air for 30 mins. Clear ruby garnet claret colour with rosy to clear rim. Dusty floral plum aroma. Medium weight with fuzzy tannins. Plum cherry compote with a dusty herbal note with a hint of violet. Fresh lively integrated. By far the best bottle of the lot and its the last. Still disappointingly way over rated by WA.

Ignoring the WA review ... and the intentional resistance to the WA review ... The nose is a little sickly ripe for me but the medium-bodied fruit is spectacular.
A perfectly serviceable wine. Nicely balanced and civilized. However, if you expect magic (WA driven, perhaps?), you may be in for a let down. Overall, a solid performer.
Nice med to heavy body. Surprisingly good for the price. Nicely balanced. Dark fruit up front. Good acid/tannin balance. Will integrate better in a year although it is very good now

PnD let air for 1.5hrs. Crimson purple not saturated with clear rim. Very fruity grapey nose with a bit of leather and lots of overripe strawberry and a touch of acetone. Medium(-) with not much tannic structure. Red fruits and a touch of leather on the palate. Thin finish. Meh. Have always been skeptical of Parker ratings and this clinches it - there is no way this can ever dream to be a 94 point wine. Fine summer sipper with grilled sausages but lacks depth complexity and balance.

- Crimsom color - Fruity nose of dark fruits with some notes of tar and smoke.
Flavors of dark sweet cherry, even like the chocolate pralines with cherries inside.
Soft and round mouthfeel. Very long aftertaste.
Impressive!

stunning bargain from Lafage is the 2014 Tessellae Old Vines, a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, all aged in concrete.

This is a solid wine, but not worth the WA score.
Good value and worth the money. Nice daily drinker if you like a bolder style. The carignan grape varietal tends to have stronger tannins and acid. Had with this with pasta with spicy sausage - style worked well with the meal as expected.
