This was just stellar. Diam (2012 was not Diam) and in perfect condition. Everything you would want in a 10-Year old wine. Brought back to Beaune for an event and it really was a star white wine. Good value if you can find these on secondary market given that people shy away from the vintage.

Great to revisit this after almost 5 years. If you pour this into a young Coche Dury Meursault bottle, I doubt anyone would challenge you it is not. It has that matchstick, firework, and flinty sensation with precise reductiveness. Palate is compact with tension and grip that screams for attention. In my humble view, 2013 is the turning point for Comte Lafon, and this bottle reaffirms my view.

Nice balance of soft butter and vanilla oak, typical Meursault notes of sea breeze, and bracing lemon acidity. None of these characteristics—oak, minerality, or acid—is overly dominant. Lots of fresh Spring flowers on the nose and on the palate. I also get some flinty flavors and faint hints of nuts. Wow, that salty finish goes on forever. That’s what I love about Meursault.
This is really good and very Meursault, but, for it’s price and it’s pedigree, I wasn’t blown away. Ok match with ham and potato gratin for Christmas Eve dinner, but really fantastic match with Chicken Cordon Bleu. Best with about 3 hours of air and closer to room temperature. I think this could have aged for longer. It still tasted very young and very fresh.

This was singing almost straight from the get-go. More elegant and refined than some of Lafon's other bottlings. Butter and popcorn subdued but still present with an overlay of white fruit on the nose that came forth after 1-2 hours, like it had a side that wanted to be puligny. Great great wine

blind Two weeks ago we had CL 2013 Perrieres. Style wise similar but this wine has more concentration and elegance. Creamy, some nuts and only a bit popcorn. 97

3 hours of aeration before consumption. Nose is reductive with stone fruit, minerals, lemon peel and white flowers. Palate opens up beautifully with harmonious balance between acidity and fruit. The reductive approach starting in the 13 vintage is bearing good result. Unlike Lafon's meursault which can sometimes be too fat and rich in an one-dimensional way, this wine is showing much more precision and sharpness yet retaining the lushness and power of the charmes terroir. This is showing great for a young charmes but it surely will age gracefully. 93+

Fat and lush fruit with charmingly sweet spice hints. In an opulent style that seems low acid to start, but shows far more cellar-necessary energy on its long finish. Very enticing for both now and the cellar.

Light yellow color; appealing, pear, floral nose; rich, delicious, creamy textured, lemon, lemon cream, mineral palate with near medium acidity; needs 2 years; long finish

Served this blind to my wine crew. A few people thought its a Coche. Stunning wine. See previous TNs for reference.

La Paulée 2016 Grand Tasting-Overview of the 2013 Vintage (The Fairmont, San Francisco): Deeper, larger scaled, and lower in acidity than the Clos de la Barre. Like a Côte de Beaune Grand Cru in downplaying the fruit, but I find the overtly oaky signature too much for me. Too bad, such outstanding stuff underneath.
