Burgundy Dinner with Friends (71 Above - Los Angeles CA): Bright and wonderfully fresh, especially for the vintage. Strawberry on nose and palate with plenty of structure in the near background. Very good length. Complex from start-to-finish.

still juvenile as if it was made five years ago; full body, a lot of soft tannins; marvellous dark colour; most typical Pinot flavor; elegant and pleasant

Zachys La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Boulevard - San Francisco CA): Small glass, brief note. Ripe and fully mature fruit. Lots of earth. Very good length. Not quite as interesting as another bottle from a few months ago, but perhaps this was slightly lost in the evening's pace of tasting so many wonderful wines.

42 Grams (42 Grams): From Acker. Surprisingly not much tannin here. Deep fruit set still there with dark fruit dominating. Very nice length balance. Mea culpa this is one of my favorite bottlings.

Popped and poured. Beautiful color - dusty ruby with a touch of browining at the rim. Sweet core of sour cherry fruit. Lots of tannins and alcohol on the nose. Amazing wine, incredibly complex with tobacco, earth, and sous bois. In the mouth, a bright acidity gives the wine a great energy. Long, long finish. In a word, spectacular.

Purchased at a region retailer about 2 years ago. Bottle in great condition. Dark color for a ducster with almost no bricking. Fabulous nose that's still very primary- intense cherries. The palate is also very primary, pure ripe fruit but a bit diffuse and muddy- very good, not great wine.

Outstanding bottle with fruit that is still fresh and rich while showing lovely complexity with dried and fresh florals.

Champagne and Burgundy Dinner (42 Grams - Chicago IL): Big fruit, nicely mature with modest spice, but overall good combination of fruit, spice, earth. Moderate weight, very good textures.

Amazing line-up, one-word impressions only: Another 1976 showing well - perhaps the heat in this vintage has not damaged everything
