Initial pleasant nose faded after 30 minutes. Muted tastes opened up to green and bitter, unpleasant tastes. Not good. Dumped the rest of the bottle after less than a glass. Maybe flawed? score withheld with that possibility in mind.

Consumption date approximate. I drank it in teh last 4-6 weeks. While the wine snobs poo poo this stuff, after a few years in bottle it drinks fairly well. Good everyday bordeaux, with traditional nose and falvors and decent enough finish.

As before: very good concentration and tannin mouthfeel suggest an ultra-premium class of juice. But, the fruit flavors include browned red plum (like bruised berries) and sour cherry (poor ripening). Tastes like berries from well cared for vines that just didn't make the grade at the sorting table and juice from barrels that didn't make the blend. Still, a great wine for the price.

A nice wine with food. Smooth with a hint of tannins and plenty of fruit. Not as complex as a more expensive bordeaux. A good casual wine at an outstanding price.

2001 Bordeaux Horizontal Tasting (Wetzlar): #7 2004 Mouton Cadet -> Pirate Our “pirate” was easy to spot. It was “artificial” blueberry all the way… in combination with the other wines, this was barely drinkable. 76 pt.

damp fertile topsoil -- earthy, but not at all a bretty/barnyard character; low key melot varietal fruit, a little blossomy but also with a notable sour -- underripe grape character. A TN by another person below indicated sour cherry which seems fitting. Something about the characteristics of this wine outside the intruding sour note (or because of it), especially the texture of some very fine tannins at finish, gives the impression to me that there was some premium, well cared for juice blended in here that just didn't make the cut for its original purpose. (65% merlot, 20% cab and 15% cab franc) 12.5%abv but alc seemed more prominent. Outstanding value. (Decanted after one glass, but didn't really improve with air -- I think better to not decant)

Opened and served right away. Ruby red in colour. Enjoyable nose of wet earth and sour cherries. Subtle flavours of wet rock and wood with some cherry flavours coming through on the short finish.

Very simple wine, not much fruit, some tannin, slightly acidic, thin and watery, maybe a little better the second night (that's not saying much), don't think I'll be buying it again soon even at its price. Tasted a little better with food (bread, brie)

A good, solid wine that is perfect to open up on the weekday evening when you might only drink a glass or two. At its price point ($7.00), certainly one of the best options. Don't expect a lot and you will be happy with it. After having two glasses, we use the little hand vaccum pump and stopped, put it in the fridge and two days later finished it. I thought it would have gone bad but it was still good. Fairly thin, not a lot of fruit or tannis, and with the rounded mouthfeel/taste that is merlot based wines often have.

Mild, simple nose - a bit of fruit - i'd agree there is a bit of black currant. A bit too light bodied (watery), good taste; slightly acidic aftertaste. No headache. Wouldn't buy again.

Nose is really simple with not much to note except maybe something that reminds me of scallops (but in a good way). The fruit is very strong yet undistinguished. Tannins are med/avg. Good acid for food, but was not good with artichoke risotto. Thin body, oily on tongue, medium finish.

Very pleasant with good drinkability. Smooth with a bit of leather on both pallet and nose. Nose of berries

Wasn't expecting much from this mass produced wine and I got what I was expecting. Perfectly drinkable but not terribly exciting

A fine basic Bordeaux, nothing fancy but not bad. Clear fruit, tannins were not strong. Nice for everyday drinking.
