I just had a glass of the '08 Castell'in Villa, and the nose here is definitely more pronounced/interesting. Not quite as compelling on the palate as the first wine, but these are both good examples from a so-so vintage and pretty interesting to be drinking side-by-side.
More red fruited on the nose than the Castell, with a little funky note as well. Nice.

In retrospect, 2008 and 2009 were pretty marginal years in Chianti - even top tier producers like Felsina released some pretty uneven wines. But you can still find drinkable examples, and this is one of them. Great nose here, with red fruit and sottobosco notes. Lighter-bodied with good acidity on the palate - this isn't a wine that will make you think, but it is a pleasure to throw back a glass or three.

Decent, although considering the vintage, pretty good. Good acidity keeps it lively on the palate, with ripe red fruit on the nose. Not overly complex, but a typical daily drinker of a Chianti.
More red-fruited on the nose than the Argiano I just drank.
Tart red fruit on the palate - 2008, at least IMO, is a so-so vintage in Tuscany. With that qualifier, this is pretty good today. Leaner on the palate than the Argiano, but the acidity here provides some lift. Pretty good QPR as well.

On the palate, this is similar in weight to the Castell (and like the Castell, it has a slightly abbreviated finish). Earthy red fruits on the nose. This may be my least favorite of the trio, but still pretty decent all in.

Very powerful and terroir driven Sangiovese. Definitely different, unique and above all complex. Dark and blue fruits, liquorice, cloves, cinnamon and black tea intensive aromas. Not full ready yet, needs minimum 3-4 more years to become round and smooth, but for sure it will be worth waiting. Great potential. Enjoyed in restaurant Bel Soggiorno in San Gimignano with pappardelle al cinghiale.

Naso meraviglioso.
Segue in bocca.
I tannini mordono ancora.
Dategli almeno altri 3 anni

Bottiglia leggermente sotto tono rispetto alle altre, ma sempre un gran bel bere. Solo con tannini molto più presenti e meno risolti.
