Some amazing Burgs à trois: Darker fruited that the Côtes de Beaune that preceded it. Feels very youthful for a 19 year old wine. The nose reveals a little House of Lords' leather, some liquorice and some demerara sugar, not sure if the vintage character coming through but this palate doesn't quite deliver on the promise of the nose. Good without taking my breath away.

I was nervous opening this wine but...the cork was perfect, the wine took an hour or so to really open up, and it tasted just fine. A fair amount of fruit left, color just a little tending towards brown, and a tiny bit of bitterness on the back end. But very nice with smoked brisket! No complaints.

Slow-ox 1 hr, tasted over 2 hrs -nearly semi-translucent dark red mild bricking -some vegetal '04 stems with an underlying earthy cherry -med acidity, med/med- weight faded cherry earth sousbois some '04 greenness, med dried out tannins -this wine I really enjoyed when it was younger, but this bottle is unfortunately past its prime and suffers from what is, in my opinion, the greatest fault with '04 red Burgs - dried out tannins

Burg v Kiwi Pinot Noir: Served blind to friends beside the 2009 Kiwa. On opening, on bouquet and palate the wine seemed flawed. But after decanting and four hours air time it was in much better shape. Served blind, none of the tasters initially picked the vintage or saw any pyrazines issue. However, once everyone knew what it was, they did notice a herby or minty note to the wine. It was not overpowering and did not spoil the wine. An attractive, light bouquet of raspberry, strawberry and a little dry straw. On palate, a pleasant, lighter, obviously Burgundian village level wine (tasters had it as a Gevrey). Less than medium weight, showing good acidity. The flavours were herby, earthy and a bit funky, with raspberries and loganberries. The wine was showing no immediate sign of falling over but I would drink it soon. I wouldn't expect it to improve.

Slow-ox 30 min, tasted over 3 hrs -moderate bricking -moderately aromatic, slight '04 vegetal -med+ acidity, quite sappy mid-palate now largely devoid of fruit and giving off mature elements with a touch of oak, finishes with average length and some drying out tannins -while not overwhelmed with the '04 trait there is enough there to detract for those who are sensitive but still pleasant for those who aren't, the dried out finish and advanced state are a greater concern, drink up

Deep crimson, quite pronounced nose of strwberries, sweetness and a touch of spice. On the palate, rich mouthfilling flavour. Sweet strawberries, asian spices, earth. There is good acidity and freshness. This wine has got better and better.

DRC Tasting Group (Kirkland, WA): Red cherries, baking spice, and oak on the nose. Light body, initially full of red fruit, but it does fade off quickly. Fine tannins linger lightly on the finish. Fairly light on the acids.

For a village wine in a tricky vintage this is outstanding. Ripe red fruits, sous bois and a lovely pinot sweetness. On the palate, this wine is very expressive. Refeshing acidity and silky tannins. Brambles, red summer berries, earthy and a whiff of undergrowth. Lovely.

palish crimson, slighly dusty looking. An initial medicinal whif blew off to reveal strawberries and redcurrents. Not pronounced but very engaging. On the palate the wine opened to reveal good acidity, moderate integrated tannins. Red summer fruits and strwberriers to the fore then the beginings of sous bois opening out across the mouth. Good freshness and grip with none of the red beetle/greeness/crushed ladybird sometimes associated with the 2004s. For a village wine, this is very good, if not fine. Time in hand and no rush to drink the remaining bottles.

advanced brownish color....ashy and green on the nose, some cherry peeking through. smells better than it tastes and flavor profile is overly acidic and void of fruit. not a good year for camp Dujac.

2nd Technical tasting course #1 (Wine Road Tel-Aviv): (blind tasting) light red-brown color with brown rim animal. leather, bret, wet earth, dust & moss aroma high acidity, medium-body, bitter, tannic, dry wood, no fruits at all, no harmony, short after-taste - seems a much older than actual age. Surely over the peak.

Deepish crimson, deeper than expected, slightly opaque. Intense perfume of red fruits, rasberries and strawberries plus a delightful whif of undergrowth. On the palate a quite pronouced flavour, forrest fruits, sweet spices and a touch of oak. Good acidity, tannins reasonably high, all in very good balance. The wine has a nice lifted freshness and a long finish. No rush to drink now but very attractive all the same. Enough fruit and backbone to last for another 3 to 5 years.

Dusty crimson, medium intensity, lighter rim. The nose quite pronouced, sweet strawberries and rasberries, saddle leather. Moderate acidity, good freshness. Sweet red fruit to the fore, some undergrowth and a slight herbacious note, not of unripness but adding complexity. The aroma and flavour developed significnatly in the glass. A moderate finish. The wine could easily be left for a year or two before broaching again but equaly, for those that enjoy the forward fruit-driven style, this wine is a delight now.

Wonderful nose of dry oak, leather, tobacco, smoke and with a hint red fruit in the background. The palate is less seductive, it starts with cherries and then turns to more earthy notes. Quite dry and with good acidity. Soft tannins. Long.
On the second day all the above is confirmed. Maybe more evident fruit on the palate.

I can see why this wine was a closeout on the list at Ten-01. The nose is mainly green briar with a slight bit of hay and manure. The palate is green as well with slight spice. The finish is all bitter green stems and then transitions to a lot of manure flavors. Really not very pleasing. No one at the party but me could even have more than a sip. It does have fine structure but the greenies are very mean in this one.

Acker 2004 Tasting Part One; 5/2/2009-5/3/2009: sweet fruit on the nose, but lots of tartness on the initial palate. not much there at all on the midpalate, with some sweet fruit on the finish. the nose is beautiful, like a 92... but the palate disappoints.

Very good village wine. Exceeded our expectations. Even better with cheeses than with the mushroom duxelles, which also worked very well.
