Still going strong....the acidity and fruit have integrated well, colour still pretty good, hint of browning maybe, but quite vibrant. Tannins all precipitated. If anything, a little better on day 2 with grilled Italian sausage, and pasta with bean& tomato sauce. Last bottle unfortunately, but this will keep going for a bit yet I think if stored well.

Medium to full body. This wine has a great nose, nicely balanced between fruit and maturity, floral to start with, good acidity and length, velvety tannins turn up at the end. Quite a lovely wine

On the gentle downslope now. The vibrancy of colour has faded. With Tuscan meatballs in tomato and chilli sauce first night. It was a little overwhelmed, but tasted good on its own. Acidity waning a bit, fruit still there to a degree. Second night with steak, the first glass was good, second and final glass fading noticeably. Drink up.

1/6 medium body, this is ready to go, there’s a few tannins left to resolve but invisible with food, good cherry fruit with a little spice, I’ve not tried the regular 2011 but this doesn’t taste particularly complex or concentrated, and doesn’t feel over worked or hot although a little more acidity would be welcome but a very enjoyable bottle, I can’t see it will improve much more, drink over the coming few years

Excellent bottle. The balance seemed better than the last one, with acidity and a little tannic grip balancing the fruit well. It drank very well with pasta and then steak over two nights. Based on this bottle, it has a few years left in it.

At first not so great - a bit sharp but with nice potential- both fruit and acidity and lingering aftertaste but somehow hidden - after decanting big surprise- the wine opened up and went from ok to really nice and ok for the price- cherries blackberry pepper- a full bodied Chianti

Gentle baked fruit. Some acidity and a little tannin. Herbaceous notes too. Less assertive than a year ago. A little overwhelmed at times by a robust pasta sauce, but would match less assertive food well. Maybe time to start drinking these up?

Tasted after 2013 Volpaia Reserva. Even more generous and ripe, round and balanced with polished tannins, well integrated acidity and plenty of succulent fruit. Good length. 90-92

Weekly tasting group #229; A mixed set fully blind tasted. (@ RW): This wine was popped and poured and that did not serve the wine right. The bouquet was locked and showed red berries and sour cherries. On the palate very primary flavors, red berries, some earth and highly acidic. At this moment not a pleasure at all. Wait for at least 3 – 5 years and give the wine a decant. No score for today.

Querciabella (Prince wine store): Red cherry, wet earth, slight biscuit, sweet spice, green herbs and dried flowers…cherry fruit translates to the palate, dried herbs, spice and fair lick of alcohol heat. Pleasant enough but I don’t like the alcohol spike which throws things out of balance at the back of the palate

dark cherry colour, slightely cloudy with lighter rim. nose: cherries, mushrooms; quite light and elegant with soft blackberries later on/ taste: good medium (+) acidity; medium tannin volume; rather light and very fruity - cherries with stones with some bitter notes. Dry - no sign of sweetness.

Weekly tasting group RWP #344; Some random wines (@ My place): Beautiful bouquet, red and dark berries and a touch of oak. On the palate juicy red fruits, vanilla, ok acidity and tannin with still a good bite.

Lovely wine. Typical cherry and dried fruit nose, good fruit on palate, with refreshing acidity and unobtrusive tannins.
Just right for drinking now and for a few years.
