My last two bottles. Decanted 3 hrs, it really benefits from air. Med+ garnet. Dry, w/ generous fruit, med+ to high acidity, med+, polished tannins & med+ alcohol. Full body, w/ med+ flavor intensity & a long finish. A big but elegant wine, w/ great balance. This wine fooled me. I didn’t decant it in when I initially tasted it and I thought the fruit had faded and that the wine was good but past peak. Fortunately, I saved some wine and on day two the wine was really in a perfect place. Classic Brunello red cherry fruit, earthy, spice, and moderate tannins.

At its prime -- balanced, with velvety and juicy but not overpowering tannins, a backbone of acidity/sweetness and quite a bit of fruit. Complemented very well an Italian dinner of pasta (as a primo) and slow-cooked, braised meat (as a secondo).

Similar to the last bottle we had some 3+ years ago - i wish we had waited a few more years. Very good and revealing though the entire evening, featuring bright red fruit aromas complicated by damp earth, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and with time, anise and spice. Acidic and lively, but it wasn't at its best until 5-6 hours of air in the decanter - at this point, it gained notable weight and depth, and turned more to a dark/blue fruit profile with graphite/chocolatey notes with a long finish of licorice, spice, and sweet strawberry fruit. Patience is recommended after pulling the cork.

PnP - it was right there. Peak time. Crowd pleaser, had it all - the elegant dark purple robe betraying its age, the insistent nose of inviting Tuscan underbrush, the combination of acidity, fruit, body, and length that silenced my Iranian New Year dinner table for a moment - no small feat! Excellent right now and for probably the rest of the year.

Decanted the wine for 2 hours first, which was needed. Nice ruby colour. On the nose leather, tobacco, vanilla. Balanced on the palate, soft tannins. Drank it with lamb caserole ala Hellstrøm. I am sure it can be stored for many more years, but it drinks really well just now.

PnP, and open for business right out of the gate. Aromas and flavors of sweet black cherry, leather, spice, cut flowers and earth commingle, with a hint of raisin in the background. Based on my experience, I'd think this is squarely in the middle of its drinking window.

Alas, this is my last bottle. This bottle was much better than the previous ones. Decanted for an hour before pouring for a Lasagna dinner. Vague aromas of earth and cherry were present but not overpowering. Flavors of black cherry leather and a hint of vanilla. This was a well balanced wine that politely accented both dinner and conversation.

Drinking very well right now with a good decant. Showing that lovely aroma and fruit you get with a good slightly aged Brunello. Delicious right now - I'm sure there might be some improvement with further age but tasting very good right now..

Opened to an subtle aromas of earth, peet and leather. It poured a light garnet with light bricking on the edges. There were nice flavors of dark cherries, over-ripened strawberries and a strong hint of vanilla mocha. Texture was light but balanced. Not quite up to the big meaty textures often found in a Brunello. It did pair nicely with lamb shanks and green bean. And it finished fairly quickly with little excitement. I think this is a drink now recommendation.

Only able to decant an hour, sadly, but distinct aromas of cherry and strawberry with bakers chocolate and vanilla secondary. Medium body was polished, opulent, complex. Smooth tannin and angular acidity. Red fruit and berry over time balanced with pepper and anise. Sweet finish, almost with clove. A dynamite bottle paired beautifully with rack of lamb and pescatore pasta. This is my favorite Brunello so far.

A big and powerful expression of Brunello, definitely a reflection of the vintage shining through. Acidity and tannin dominated at first, so we decanted. It packed a punch, though still revealed a notably earthy and good dark fruit profile. The wine was at its best after 4 hours decanting, at which point it had sufficiently mellowed and gained weight, showcasing silky textured flavors of spice, anise, damp earth, and dark fruits (i.e., blueberry, blackberry), followed by a hint of milk chocolate on the finish. Certainly in the modern style, as other tasters have noted; and while I tend to favor the more classical style, we really enjoyed this, a good sign of the vintage! It's good now with a 3-4 hour decant, which I'd say is imperative, but I'll hold remaining bottles 3-4 years before revisiting. There's a lot here, which suggests a long life lies ahead.

In the hullabaloo over the release of the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino, a vintage so sublime that it's recalibrating our understanding of benchmark Brunello, it's easy to have overlooked some bottles. Americans love Brunello, and IWM clients love this Sangiovese Grosso wine more than most aficionados of Italian wine. Today, we're delighted to focus your attention on a Brunello made by the iconic Antinori family and offer it at just under $65 a bottle, the BEST PRICE in the country. The fruit of Antinori's venture in Montalcino, this Brunello has, since its inaugural 1995 bottling, grown a devoted international fan-base for its structure, aromatics and elegance--as well as Antinori's hallmark accessibility, and this '10 Brunello bottling helps to cement the estate's reputation in Montalcino. Simply put, it's a must-have bottling, which IWM tastings have shown again and again.
Why Buy This Wine:
- From its start, this '10 Brunello looked special--Antinori reports that after the cold winter of 2009-2010, a rainy spring delayed bud-break; however, the "lovely" summer and "positive" weather helped the grapes achieve "balanced ripening" and perfect maturity.
- The nose of this benchmark '10 Brunello from Antinori bursts with juicy, succulent red and black fruit, saddle leather, cigar wrapper, sun-warmed earth, cypress, and herbs.
- Velvety and rich, this wine whooshes across the palate with considerable softness and roundness, yet it's also remarkably structured; this '10 Brunello mixes accessibility with longevity in a wine that's replete with chewy tannins and vibrant acidity.
- Drinkable with a little decanting, this '10 Antinori Brunello is delicious now, but it has the stuffing to drink for years--even decades--to come, making it an ideal Brunello to buy by the case.
- Poured at IWM events, this benchmark Brunello from Antinori has been a hit with our clients, so much so that we've had to secure it again and again; contact your portfolio manager to secure your '10 Brunello at the BEST PRICE in the country.

Lovely Wine...way to young today. Future is very bright. I may open another 5-7yrs. I have some Magnums and Dbl Magnums. For those even longer. This wine was decanted for 3hrs. The Carmel, chocolate, and Strawberries comes through. The tannins are still very strong. This is very good juice. Enjoy

Garnet red. Red berries and some floral notes. Some earthy and dirt/dust notes too. Moderate tannins (7/10) with moderate plus acidity. Great texture and medium bodied. Dried cherries, savory notes and herbs on the palate. Super long finish, dry and some metallic notes in the finish. Drink till 2022.

PnP, this was so tight. Burnt red color. Nose was intense with candied cherry and slight eucalyptus. Body was tight but balanced. Red and blue berries with a little earth and mushroom. Tannins make themselves known, but are fairly soft. Good acidity too. Medium finish. This opened up a bit over the couple hours, and should be really nice by 2020. 91+ but has much more potential.

Red fruits, herbs, smooth and fresh. Tobacco and cedar notes on the nose too. Palate shows high acid, high tannin, heat, sour black fruits, earth, spice. Iron fist in a velvet glove. Potential plus here. Just needs (more) time.

This is surely for the long run, from a classic vintage with perfect acidity and firm body, intense and yet quite closed , not revealing much but you can sense the energy inside, at least 4-5y from now before opening a bottle.

The nose showed dark, brooding fruits, along with bakers chocolate and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, I found silky textures ushering in a mix of spicy blue and red fruits. The palate-coating finish displayed sweet inner floral tones and dried cherry.

Brunello di Montalcino 2010 - 30 top names of the vintage (Singapore): During a guided blind tasting of 16 Brunello 2010. Medium garnet. Discrete, a bit closed nose as well here with aromas of autumn leaves, tobacco but also Maggi beef stock. Enters the palate ripe with soft tannins. “Very ambitious wine making” I wrote down with reference to the degree of ripeness searched here with plum/pine notes as well as the oak management. The tasting group did not like this wine at all. Too much French oak were some of the comments. Rank 14/16. I was a bit more positive, 94 Pts. from me. Try this or the Casanova Neri Tenuta Nuova if you like a more international style.

A week in Tuscany (and Lots of wines); 10/19/2015-10/21/2015 (Tuscany, Italy): I have always liked this bottling. I know some don't like its more international style. Perhaps, but it is seductive and accessible and over the years, I find it ages better than it gets credit for on release. The nose is sweaty with cherries and some slight tea notes. Also some tarragon. On the palate, this is soft and easier to drink right now than most 2010's. Still some tannins to deal with though. Nice cherries with a mint finish. Some tight layering.

Nice cherry and strawberry, lavander, smoked and pepperoni. Salivating. Balanced and nicely structured. Still too young to drink. Suggest to give it lots of air before drinking it. 91-92

Enjoy

Really nice and very easy drinking. Cherry, red currants and spice notes with medium tannins. Did not decant but let breathe for 20 minutes or so. Enjoyed with pasta and white wine sauce

Gave this lots of time in the decanter. Showing some age in appearance. Beautiful nose of red currants, cherries, spices, sandalwood. Lovely balance and complexity on the palate, with sweet fruit and balancing acidity. Drinking now, will hold for 10 years.

Needs a good couple of hours to breathe then really opens up into a classic Brunello. Have another six of these so will try another one in a year or so - only going to get better...

At the NY Yankee steakhouse, decanted through an aerator. Dark fruit with a touch of spice on the nose, the palate is dark plums, dark cherry and chocolate. A nice long smooth finish.

Took some time to breathe - very elegant and silky on the palate. Harshly spiced meats might overpower so try simple dishes next time.

This is very old world. Not a fruit bomb, much more savory, leather and tea notes. Long finish, a couple of years will round it out nicely

Negociants Australia New Release Tasting: Earthy, smoky, blackcurrant and some truffle. Mostly savoury on the palate, there is good, fine tannin here giving it structure while having plenty of finesse.
