Bought a few years ago from BM. My first 01 Lokoya Mt Veeder, had 1 glass then put back in cellar, drank over 2 nights; best day 2 with more air. Blackberry, black raspberry, spice, unsmoked cigar, damp earth and clay beautifully balanced subtle tannin. Memorable, but not at current $450 retail pricing.

A perfect wine in a perfect spot. Short decant. Deep dark color, supercomplex nose. Still youthful. Unbelievable explosion of blueberry, raspberry, black current, chocolate, espresso, vanilla, surrounded by exotic spices. Layers on layers on layers: this complexity goes on and on. Full and developed body, a powerhouse. The purity and intensity are overwhelming. Superlong finish with noble tannins. A monumental wine you will remember for many years. Wow.

This is the total package- color, nose and spectacular palate. Approaching perfect and has the backbone to go on and possibly even slightly improve for 10-15 years. The palate is very intense but not sugary- perhaps it's the mountain fruit. Loads of graphite. Blackberry and stone powder as well.

3 hour decant and Vinturi - Opulent with gripping tannins caressing pure details of tobacco, tilled earth and cedar box. Deep and dark mocha laced, dramatic flourish. Can go another 5 years with ease.

Opens beautifully after a few hours in the decanter. Laser focused with terrific structure and some residual tannins and acidity providing freshness. Violets on the nose with a refined and integrated palate of blackberry, raspberry and graphite. Great expression of Mount Veeder Cab.

Infanticide. This is hard as nails, rough tannins and heat on the palate. Gorgeous nose, hinting of many good things to come. Shouldn't be touched for another 5 years.

Hold for at least another 5-10 yrs. Nose is clearly 100 pts but the tannins will need time to soften. A bit hard at the moment but clearly an outstanding wine. The 2002 is much more enjoyable at this point.

Classic mountain fruit and volcanic ash. Nice rich spice notes of turmeric. Tannins are smooth and mature. Drank like a fine left bank. It surprised me.

Dark purplish-red; great legs. Aroma of alcohol, spice and blackberry. Tastes fairly tannic still, but very dry overall with blackberry, tobacco and cherry. Fairly smooth, full-bodied but slightly chalky. Extremely dry finish. Great Cabernet Sauvignon, but pricey.

This wine has dropped much of its dark fruit and has turned to spice notes, more like a bordeaux now than a Big Napa Cab. Nice with the steaks we had; did not overpower the food at all; very complimentary. Not at all what I expected but quite good.

IWFSC Governors Lunch (Dan's): A really lovely super focused black fruit california cab. Classic 2001 character with great fruit but firm deep structure as well. Still a youth.

Unfortunately drank this after a 1990 Margaux and couldn't compete, but still was outstanding. Lesson learned - if you start with Margaux you have to continue with Margaux. But as to the Lakoya - it's a great fruity California cab that has lots of intensity and should last for many more years.

Dark purple red color; nose of smoke, spice, and dark berry fruit; full body; tannins firm but become velvety soft on the finish; rich ripe blackberry flavors mixed with kirsch, licorice, creme de cassis and toasty oak; finishes long; no signs of decline.

Excellent Lokoya that still has a bit of tannin, so it should smooth out over the next few years. The core was very good, but not as good as the ’97 or “95, although perhaps it will develop into Parker’s score. It is worth buying a couple more bottles if not too pricey.

2001 Cults (Plus some extras) from Delyap & Tommy 'O (Vancouver): Now this puppy was singing. Cassis on the nose and palate. Big black fruit. A huge wine, but not overly sweet. This is great. Lovely balance and velvet mouthfeel. A wonderful drinnk now, but much more to come. The group had this 3rd of 13.
