Those that give this a 90+ rating are being nice and only doing so because of the producer. This is not worthy of a 90+ in any way. Out of balance. Some yellow fruit on the front and middle but the bubbles tasted and made this one seem like it was carbonated by a soda stream machine. Thin finish. Could this one grow a bit? It's possible. If I had some of these, I would be seriously contemplating selling them off. There's always someone willing to buy a Roederer something or other. I had high hopes for this one. The NV Bolly crushed it with ease.

The first release of this start alliance of Louis Roederer and Philippe Starck. Brut Nature with no malolactic. Light oak aging. Blend of 65% of Pinot Noir and 35% of Chardonnay coming from biodynamicly cultivated vines.
2006 is ripe vintage and with some bottle age I have expected bit more from this cuvee. It appears to be rather strict and sharp.

Although a brut zero, this easily has enough fruit to give a perception of slight sweetness. I wouldn’t want this any sweeter than it is, and is not austere at this time. Very refreshing.

An excellent sparkler but not my cup of tea (I prefer the yeasty brioche style). I couldn't believe it's twelve years old as it's so unbelievably fresh. Tons of apple, lemon curd, and herbs following through to a palate of bright acidity. Finishes long and fresh. Sooo fresh.

2009 LOUIS ROEDERER BRUT NATURE PHILIPPE STARCK LABEL- a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier harvested and fermented together; no dosage, no ML; this is the second bottling for Roederer since the release of the 2006; the French designer, Phillipe Starck was heavily involved in the blending of the wine as well as being responsible for the packaging and designing the label; Xavier repeated a comment he made when he poured me the 06` last year at another wine event: “why drink water when you can drink champagne” and “If you like Chablis, you`ll like this”. I concur with both astute statements.
Our bottle had lemon lime orange colour which somewhat emulated what the aromatics and taste profile contained; it was nicely balanced, had bright acidity, demonstrated an element of elegance and kept evolving in the glass with more nuances unfolding which revealed pear, grapefruit, stone fruit, spice, saline and distinct mineral notes, all intertwined in the depth of the multiple layers.

Tasted with 2005 and 2006 Paul bara special club and egly rose. Most people’s #4 yet they liked it. It is very extreme in austerity which is very interesting. It’s not as enjoyable as the best but entertaining for the uniqueness and very drinkable.

2006 LOUIS ROEDERER BRUT NATURE- my first exposure to this was last year while attending a champagne tasting put on by Louis Roederer in conjunction with caviar from Black River Caviar; I found it to be quite pleasant then and this was consistent; it had dry [no dosage] spicy citrus with lemon zest especially, along with fresh pear and a streak of minerals; I loved the frothy mousse and clean notes; 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay.

Straw-to-gold in color. Small bubbles in glass. Layered butter pastry and green apples on the nose. Palate dry and reflective of the nose but with a lengthy, slightly bitter finish reminiscent of lemon peel. More rounded texture on day two that diminished some of the astringency present on day one.

Louis Roederer Masterclass (Afros & Fisalides Wine Fair, Grande Bretagne Hotel): 34% Chardonnay, 66% Pinot Meunier, 25% of the wine was fermented in oak barrels, no malolactic, 60 months sur lies and 6 months extra maturation after the disgorgement, dosage 0gr/lt. The nose is rounder, riper stone fruit, brioche, hazelnut. In the palate its more robust, quite the carbonation, citrus, med+ body with med finish. Lemon leaves, explosive in the palate, it is only just now starting to show notes of ageing. Very interesting

Sparkling tasting - double blind: Consistent with the previous bottle. Zero dosage and non-malo shows, it is a bit oxidative and closer to grower in its style. One to age, one to mellow (though zero dosage doesn't help in aging). Unripe green apple, high acidity, very long finish. Very nice and classy overall.

Of the first three, the first was a little dark. I think it was travel weary. The second two were quite nice. Light yellow, red and green apple skin, lime, refreshing, with a hint of steel drum. Delicious and refreshing.
2006 LOUIS ROEDERER BRUT NATURE- 2/3 Pinot Noir, 1/3 Chardonnay; no dosage, no ML; the fruit was harvested on September 7th in order to be biodynamically correct; this is the first new bottling for Roederer since the release of the Cristal Rose in 1974; the French designer, Phillipe Starck was heavily involved in the blending of the wine as well as being responsible for the packaging and designing the label; Xavier discussed the champagne first stating “why drink water when you can drink champagne” and “If you like Chablis, you`ll like this”. (Disgorged in December 2014) Lovely yellow colour with a reductive nose filled with mature apples and a hint of plums mixed with lovely minerals in a fresh youthful style. Very smooth on the palate showing some oxidative notes of mature apples and some oak and with an acidic mineral lime peel finish. A bit weak on the finish, but will improve with some more cellaring. Best 2016-2026. 91p.
We brought a bottle to celebrate our friend's day after concert lunch at the local, yummy Cantonese dim sum place. Patience is a tempting virtue and this "wine" is most definitely a temptress. Barely legal now, she will blossom into a stylish young lady reminiscent of Starck's varying and various architecture that screams over-the-top in so many different languages. We now can forgive Louis Roederer for its celebrity silliness (can you say Cristal?)...this "wine" properly served in big bowl white Burgundy glasses is redemption with power, silkiness, proper dryness and elegance.

An Evening with Barolo Icon Roberto Voerzio (Del Posto in NYC): Perhaps because of the context or less comparison points I had a different experience with this wine than the last time. Found it a bit less harsh than I remember. More in the standard bubbles format. Good, but not something I'd actively seek out.
Nose with brioche and lemon. Razorsharp freshness, lot's of lemon and chalk. Cleans your palate but not worth double the money for 'a normal' Roederer champagne.

Bought upon release at retail wine shop. 12% abv. Clear, light yellow color. Apple and pear notes along with some citrus. High acid. Easy to drink. Clean. Not terribly complex. Will be interesting to see how this ages. I like it. Don't know if I would purchase again though.

Drank next to the standard Brut and the Cristal. This is a very different style from either - much more in your face with bubbles that are almost spitting. That harshness tends to overshadow any other flavors in the wine. I wonder if it might not settle with some time and then be a very nice wine to drink, but right now it was just a bit too much for me.

Light, soft, slightly flowery nose. Lightness of a BdB (although it is not), a nice spicy-sharp side to it on the palate, probably from lack of dosage. Very long, astringent finish of quince and lemon. One can feel that there was no malolactic and dosage. Will benefit from further aging.

(Disgorged spring of 2015) Yellow colour with a stream of fine and tiny bubbles spreading the wonderful nose of mature yellow apples and citrus. Very reductive palate. Need some more cellaring to smooth a bit.
Had along with other brut natures, among others Juve y Camps brut nature '10 (Cava i know...what are you gonna do in a blind tasting??). Next to that, this seemed soft and sweet (despite being brut nature). As a general fan of Roederer, this is was a bit of a disappointment. Expected more freshness and razor-sharp precision. Also the price point is ridiculous... Good champagne, nothing more... nice nose though.
This bottle was shared by Mark H., served at offline held at North Square. I would have to say that we committed infanticide here. Could also be that thus is an example of a champagne that is better served in a glass other than a flute. I might also have been biased by the non-traditional label, the significance of which I did not fully appreciate. I enjoyed everything about the wine except that i had some trouble finding fruit flavors. Lovely golden color. Persistent tiny bubbles. Crisp acidity. Ample yeast/bread dough which I particularly enoy in champagne. Hints of white fruit. I imagine it will develop greater complexity with more cellar time. Grateful to have had the opportunity to taste this new discovery. Will look to buy some.
We started our Tempranillo evening with this bubble. Same comments as our June 18th note: Wow, what a wonderful wine to start the evening. Yellowish gold to the eye. We sipped in big bowl Burgundy glasses that helped to bring out the aromas pears, citrus and slightly smoky. Fine bubbles. Strong mineral freshness that becomes elegant and then slightly tarty...we always liked tarts ;-) Smooth finish. Dry as a desert! Pleased to have quite a few bottles to sip over the coming decades!

Leo's Blind Tasting Group - May '15 edition (The Kitchen at Grove): Weird label, but a really lovely wine that I found myself going back to more than any other in the flight. Sweet doughy and brioche flavours up front, and then it turns more tart on the back end with really fresh green apple and pear flavours becoming more dominant on the finish. There's really great focus and balance here, with the acidity keeping it very precise and light on its feet, and each sip invites another.

Med to light yellow with lots of bubbles. Light yeasty nose with some hint of fruit and flower. Zesty acid in mouth but very dry and grippy. Some spice that resembles VR (as 2/3 Pinot and 1/3 Chardonnay). Quite complex but zero dosage may not be everyone's favorite, esp ladies.

Crushed coy Pinot red berry nose. Of course, this is dry and nervous on the palate, with flavors of raspberry and strawberry spread on a block of stone. Comes off as a flirty and fleeting version of the Roederer 2006 Brut. I'd be inclined to give this some more cellar time or certainly let it air out for a few hours before drinking.

A private lunch (Restaurant Le Parc **, Hotel Les Crayeres, Reims, France): Label designed by Philippe Starck. Pure and creamy, complex and subtle floral notes, rich but elegant, lovely weight, seamless and stylish, smoky Pinot Noir gives depth and a savoury note, linear and long. successfully avoids the vicissitudes of many Nature Champagnes and reveals the wine in all its purity.

Very mineral and fresh with a slight touch of "fruit bread" on the nose. A real palate cleanser with soft bubbles and a lengthy finish.

Our friend from Latvia was in town so we decided to enjoy this bubble together in the jacuzzi.

Fresh, citrus nose with a citrus and mineral palate. Not bad and certainly not as brutally severe as some Brut nature champagnes out there. Just not my style. Aperitif.

We have sipped three bottles in the last month primarily to expose different friends to the design of the packaging, which we ventured a guess they might enjoy even more than the shampoo!

Brilliant acidity followed by mineral and a candied lemon accent. There is bread dough and lemon straw on the finish. This wine stayed fairly closed throughout the time we had it open. Bone dry.
