Consumed with rare grass fed steak and stuffed mushrooms. Splash decanted and consumed over a three or four hours. Dense and rich, though savoury, fruit on the nose. Blackberry fruit, a little peppery spice and quite thick on the palate. This is alcoholically warmer than I remember it and was popped in the fridge for 20 minutes to take the edge off. I suspect I've been drinking too much French stuff as this also felt a little clumsy and unwieldy as well.

There is some bottle variability here as this is the 3rd bottle and all have been different experiences. It's a solid mid-range Aussie. Wouldn't mind drinking it again.

Sandalwood, angel share smell in cellars, licorice, sweet port notes with subtle plum on the nose. Tannins are dense and pasty with a lively acidity and a bit fiery feel followed by stewed red fruits with toasted old oak notes at the medium finish. It has good vinificación and structure but the fruit takes on a second role.
Coravin sample. Sandalwood, angel share smell in cellars, licorice, sweet port notes but very little primary fruit on the nose. Tannins are dense and pasty with a lively acidity and a bit fiery feel followed by stewed red fruits with toasted old oak notes at the medium finish. It has good vinificación and structure but it's missing the fruit as protagonist. (91-92)

Didn't decant this time and it was better. More spice, still concentrated and jammy but got more cloves and cinnamon. Just lovely and a true qpr for Aussie fruit.

Poured into the decanter and started drinking. Nice depth and body on this. Not sure where another reviewer commented about sourness...none here. Full throttle fruitiness and concentration. Jammy for sure but not off-putting in any way. Dark berry smoothie.

Tasted at Torbreck Dinner @ Mandarin Grill, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur
Classic Duck Rillette
The wine is clear, with deep ruby colour and legs.
On the nose it is clean, with medium plus to pronounced intensity of aroma characteristic of jaminess, black fruits, cassis, spice, chocolate and bouquet flower.
On the palate it is dry, low acidity, medium minus tannin, 15% alcohol, full body, with flavours of black fruits, earth, chocolate, spice, pepper, and tar. Long finish. Very good quality wine that can drink now but has potential for aging.

Game of Rhones (Carriageworks, Redfern): Meaty, blackberry, peppery spice, dense. ON the palate initial blackberry then plentiful pepper spice lend a savoury note and are joined by talc textured tannins. Long. Nice.
