Still pretty deep ruby/purple color and just some lightening up towards the rim. Perfumed, seductive and juicy, this is showing notes of sweet red cherries, some mint, also some crushed violets/flowery notes, a touch of graphite, sweet spices and pipe tobacco, later also some macerated cherries. There is medium-full body (bordering on full), with nice medium-high acidity but alcohol that is just a little bit recognizable. Tannin is relatively low. Pretty long finish. A really beautiful and delicious Barbera from this excellent producer, a small step down from the epic 2008 though.

So good! Dark fruit that is intense without overripeness and well-balanced. Not cheap for Barbera but well worth it. IMHO the perfect wine for a hearty Bolognese. Drink or hold.

This has to be one of my all time favorite Barberas . Great cherry flavor on entry, lots of acidity to balance the fruit and considerably more complex than most Barberas that I have tasted. Slightly better than the 2013 in my opinion. Sadly my last bottle. Drank over two nights with lasagna! Marvelous!

A Barbera where you get more deepness - was really very good - lots of fruit black currant and cherries - a bit of pepper. Medium acidity and tannins - a well structured wine with a great balance - happy to give 92.-

Purple. Rich and creamy dark fruited nose. Drank with Tuscan bean soup. Less tart, more depth, amazing balance from start to finish. Ages well. This is still one of my favorite Italian food wines. Worth the extra money compared to the other less complex Barberas.

Wow a really great wine from a region I tend to overlook except for the occasional Barolo for the cellar. I can't recall ever liking a Barbera so much. Usually they are run of the mill ordinary wines. This had intense laser like fruit perfectly balanced, not too sweet but fresh and crisp. Nice long finish with enough acidity to match stuffed shells with fresh Marinara sauce. Will keep my eyes out for more.

Dark red with some purple. Big time raspberry preserves on the nose when first opened, with tobacco and cedar coming on after being given some air time. Great complement and match with mushroom ravioli. This has wonderful fruit but yet has other herbs, and savory flavors to add to the complexity. Consistent notes.

Drank with ravioli, terrific as usual. I do think this is improving some with time. I will continue to buy this. Probably my favorite everyday Italian red.

Dark red. Spicy red raspberry jam on the nose. This has settled down some since my last bottle. Still fruit forward, blackberry, hint of black pepper, tart black cherry. I enjoyed this better tonight but it is still youthful.

Color - dense, virtually opaque purple-blue. Nose - Dried red fruits Palate - Plum, dried cherry, oak, and a touch of milk chocolate. It is juicy, a trace acidic, and has limited tannins, It has a moderate duration and moderate to full body, more to the fruity end than tannin or acid.

Dark purple color. Closed at the beginning. Over an hour is required to open up the wine. Tons of black fruit nose, earthy and herbal note here. The wine makes polished impression. Highly softened tannin, plenty mineral and fine balance. Fruit forward but weighty Barbera. Still young. Alc. 15%

Nice red fruit, tart cherries, hints of tobacco and a nice finish. Liked the 2010 a little better but this is really well done. Great with a red sauce.

The nose was gorgeous showing dark red fruit, licorice, sweet herbs, and dusty spice. It was silky, yet driven by vibrant acidity on the palate with crushed tart cherry, exotic spice and saline-minerality. Finishing with a coating of concentrated fruit upon the senses, yet suddenly becoming mouthwatering and fresh—what an experience. This is an amazing value and a wine of stature.

From the Bricco delle Viole Cru. Medium ruby/purple color. Perfumed notes of crushed flowers, sweet spices, licorice, cloves, some tobacco, sweet red cherries and some mint. Medium-full bodied with medium-high acidity and medium tannin. Great length. A super fresh, complex and perfumed Barbera Superiore. Year after year one of my favorite Barberas!

Tobacco, fruit cake and alcohol on the nose. Sweet and sour in the mouth, with fine tannins. Big, Chevy and concentrated. Very impressive, but not the most elegant.

Very deep, dark, colour. Beautiful. Nose: robust, with great depth; some pleasant liqorice. Taste: loads of flesh and bones - muscular body. Well mannered acidity. Despite 15% alc you cannot taste it. Very powerful, excellent barbera.
