Dark crimson in color. 14.3% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, cloves, sarsaparilla and forest floor. Medium body with perfect acidity. Rich, restrained and earthy with impeccable balance. Black cherry, pomegranate, roasted herbs and earth on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Stunning Pinot Noir that presents with a Burgundian flair. Best over the next several years.

Popped and poured. Beautiful right out of the bottle. I could add text and superlatives but the wine is flat out delicious and in a really good drinking window.

Blueberries and stone on the nose. Medium bodied (full for a KB pinot) with medium dark color. Spicy mix of white pepper, pushes over the top of the blueberries & cherries.

The red and black intermingle seamlessly with the earth and anise notes. It appears to be at its peak at this time, yet will hold for years to come if properly cellared. Impressive effort.

I am just getting into Pinot, and picked this up at auction. Fantastic wine, love it. Cant comment on QPR, I paid about 70 for the bottle and was happy with it. I understand their draw!
UPDATE: Went through 4 bottles. All really nice. Last one was more raisin-y than the rest, but still lovely.

Really terrific wine in this bottle! This pinot has all one could ask for from a really pricy wine. I am loath to equate price with quality, but I hate to feel cheated as well. Great acid lift, excellent fruit and that distinctive K-B spiciness. No defects, excellent purity, and great aftertaste complete the story.

My goodness this was good! Koplen has always been my favorite KB SVD. Given the new leaner KB style, each of these from the old regime is treated with great reverence by my wife and me. Beautiful nose, medium to full bodied, lush on the palate but perfectly balanced with nice acidity. Long finish. So bummed they don’t make them like this anymore, this was the perfect mid point between the early bombers and the new leaner style. For the life of me, I don’t know why they backed away from this style... there are plenty of IPOB wines out there, so many less in this category of perfectly balanced fruity wines. This wine is really in a sweet spot

Another KB single vineyard gem...full bodied Pinot Noir with intense cherry and strawberry fruit with soft tannins that give a nice hint of spice and anise. Terrific finish that last 30+ seconds...amazing for a Pinot Noir. Drinking perfectly right now...if you have this...drink up!

Over the top delicious. Decanted 2 hours and served with a rack of lamb basted in a sweet chili sauce. Layers of fruit and earthy mushroom. Drinking well now and may still have a few years that are good. One of my favorite pinots!

Lovely Pinot from Kosta Browne, fully into prime drinking window. Lovely spice and red and black fruit intermingle to deliver a cohesive and integrated drinking experience. Beautiful on the palate and exactly the right weight and heft. Polished and elegant. Still so fresh and delightful, with more runway ahead.

Amana Ski Group: see 09 vintage for base info. This is wonderful. Fuller and richer than the 12, it already shows excellent balance and integration. Some tartness and a bit more extracted than the 12. Red fruit, raspberry, spice, cola. Drink now or hold. Nothing off. $106

World of Pinot Noir Grand Tasting (Bacara - Goleta CA): Tasting, brief note. Incredibly ripe, fat black fruit with lots of spice. The most opulent and concentrated of the three Kosta Browne wines served today, and certainly the least restrained. This retains its balance with enough structure for the fruit. Very good in its style.

Loved it. A little more bite than some single vineyards from KB which only helps it pair with food.

Different from most Kosta Browne pinots, the Koplen 2013 is big, deep, with funky mushroom and dark fruit. Dark color and more body than most.
